Always delicious, makes my heart smile. Nice & cozy, keep it up. Nice music, awesome burger, happy and glad staff. It was awesome today, best thing to come here with friends!
Thus read some of the numerous Post-it messages put up on the wall at the first flagship restaurant in town from the Calcutta-based start-up Wow! Momo.
“Not just kiosks and takeaways, we have gifted Calcutta a full-fledged restaurant,” said the brand’s co-founder Sagar J. Daryani, welcoming t2 to the 50-seater restaurant, at the junction of Lord Sinha Road and AJC Bose Road, not far from the Exide crossing.
Across two levels, the restaurant has a live kitchen, a takeaway window, tables for 30 on the ground floor and 20 upstairs — all painted in bright red-and-yellow, trademark tones for the brand valued at Rs 100 crore.
The menu promises a few firsts as well — Tandoori Momo, Momo Sizzlers and Baked Momo Au Gratin. “Momo is primarily an impulse-buying product. But we wanted to give our customers the option of making a meal out of our momos,” said Daryani.
The location (lots of offices, a few schools and a college in the vicinity) of the restaurant is going to be a winner, feel the owners. “This is our first restaurant in Calcutta and the second in India (the other outlet is in Delhi). Hence we wanted a central location. If you see this area, beginning from the Exide crossing, we are the only restaurant serving non-veg food here,” pointed out Daryani.
