American singer-songwriter Ariana Grande is set to join Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller in the fourth instalment of Universal Pictures’ comedy-drama, Meet the Parents.

The singer, who secured a nomination at the Oscars this year for her performance in the musical drama Wicked, confirmed the news on Instagram stories.

According to reports, actors Blythe Danner and Teri Polo, who also starred in the first three instalments released during the first decade of the 2000s, are expected to reprise their roles in the upcoming film.

The first instalment of the film tells the story of Greg Focker (Stiller), who decides to spend a weekend with his girlfriend Pam Byrnes’ (Teri Polo) parents before proposing to her. However, her father, Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), develops an instant dislike for Greg, which makes his stay far worse than he had imagined. The film achieved both commercial and critical success upon its release in 2000.

Though the plot details of Meet The Parents 4 are still under wraps, according to reports, the film will follow the story of a strong-willed, unorthodox woman, played by Grande. Her character gets engaged to Greg and Pam’s son, bringing a fresh and chaotic twist to the family’s complicated dynamics.

Ariana Grande dropped her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, in 2024. Later, she also released the reissued version of the album, titled Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead, on March 28.

Also, Grande is gearing up for the release of her upcoming musical drama, Wicked: For Good, which is a sequel to the 2024 film. Also starring Cynthia Erivo, Wicked is currently streaming on Prime Video.

Wicked: For Good is set to hit theatres on November 1.

On the other hand, Robert De Niro made his OTT debut with Netflix’s political thriller television miniseries Zero Day.

Ben Stiller is gearing up for the release of Happy Gilmore 2.
