The ‘in’ song: The new track that everyone seems to be listening to. You were sceptical but you ended up actually enjoying it.

Embarrassing item numbers: None of us cares to admit it but we all have a few raunchy Bollywood dance numbers on our playlist, be it Chikni Chameli, Baby doll or Fevicol se... 

Group forwards: Your classmate from school shared them on the WhatsApp group and they were instantly downloaded thanks to the super-fast Wi-Fi at home. You probably don’t even know they’re there, silently eating up phone memory.
Bohemian Rhapsody: It doesn’t matter what genre you follow, metal, rock, rap or pop; Bohemian Rhapsody will always have a place on a music lover’s playlist. 

Bae’s bae: With the amount of FBI-like stalking you do on social media, you definitely know what genre your crush listens to and which songs are his/her current and all-time favourites. You download and listen to these songs to get some insight into the mystery that is your crush.

The ones you never listen to: These songs have been on your playlist for a very long time. You’ve promised yourself that one day you’ll listen to them and so you don’t delete them. But when that day comes, you skip it and listen to songs under category 1. You’ve been doing this for the past five years.

Melancholic Hindi film tracks: The moment something upsets you, this is where you go. You also listen to them when you’re in a car, looking out of the window and pretending you’re in a music video. 

High-time favourites: These are the ones you listen to after 4 pegs or 14. They bring out your inner Prabhudheva and Michael Jackson.

Celeb effect: Myself by Nav and Godspeed by Frank Ocean went viral on social media once Kylie Jenner Snapchatted them. Sonam Kapoor shared 7 Years by Lukas Graham on her Instagram. Of course you had to have them on your playlist!
