FAMILY AND FRIENDS PAY TRIBUTE TO ASHOK ‘DADAMONI’ KUMAR Published 30.03.12, 12:00 AM

It was all about remembering “Dadamoni” on Tuesday evening as family, friends and fans gathered at Nandan II for Ashok Kumar: His Light Years, a three-day tribute to the actor through films and a photo exhibition. Amol Palekar shared stories about his Chhoti Si Baat co-actor, while Moushumi Chatterjee had everyone in splits with her account of Dadamoni the “comedian” and “a homoeopathy expert” who had named his dog “Kukur”. Palekar added: “Dadamoni grew very fond of me and was keen on my painting career. He attended all seven exhibitions I’ve had.” Also present were director Basu Chatterjee, Sandip Ray, Ashok Kumar’s eldest daughter Bharati Jaffrey and granddaughter Anooradha Patel. Day One rounded off with a party at The Conclave hosted by Prabha Khaitan Foundation. Pictures by Rashbehari Das and Sanjoy Chattopadhyaya
