Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury
“I plan to make Ajana Desh and Dui Nari, both based on Sunil Ganguly stories. Ajana Desh will be shot in the Andamans, and Dui Nari in Calcutta and the US,” Aniruddha said.
ANJAN DUTT
Anjan is gearing up for two films back-to-back — an “entertaining musical set in the suburbs” and a “comedy on filmmaking”. His Bomkesh Bakshi will have a middle-of-the-year release; Haate Roilo Pistol will follow.
Aparna Sen
Her Iti Mrinalini is in the post-production stage and The Japanese Wife, lying in the cans for the past two years, may finally make it to the halls. “The Japanese Wife will definitely release in the first half of 2010,” says an official of Saregama, the film’s producer.
Buddhadeb Dasgupta
Janala, showcased in the Masters section at Toronto, is scheduled to release around Durga Puja. “I will start shooting my next film from September. It’s based on one of my stories,” said Dasgupta.
Goutam Ghose
Moner Manush is slated for a May release, following which Ghose will start his next film, Lala. “It’s an Indo-Italian co-production and should roll by monsoon. We will shoot in Gangotri, Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh and Europe,” said Ghose.
RITUPARNO GHOSH
His Abohomaan and Noukodubi are slated for release this year, and in that order. February will find Rituparno in Berlin with Kaushik Ganguly’s Aarekti Premer Golpo in which he debuts as an actor. He is now busy finetuning the script for his next venture.
SANDIP RAY
Sandip will start his fourth Feluda film, Joto Kando Kathmandute, and the hunt is on for a new Topshe (since Parambrata Chattopadhyay is in the UK for film studies). “We plan to start shooting in February-March,” said Sandip.
SUMAN GHOSH
His third Bengali film is a “satirical comedy on the current obsession with electronic gadgets”. Suman intends to start shooting in June-July. “The script is based on a story of mine. Mayookh Bhaumik will do the music.”
Suman Mukhopadhyay
While his Mahanagar@Kolkata is slated for an early 2010 release, Suman will return to the floors with either K for Krishnendu or Putulnacher Itikatha. “I am also planning
9/11 & Butterfly Kids, based on a story by Swapnamoy Chakraborty,” said Suman.
PROSENJIT
His first 2010 release will be the arty Clerk. In the pipeline are Jor Jar Muluk Tar, Hangover and Bangla Bachao. He shoots for Moner Manush till mid-January in Bangladesh and starts Autograph, produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, from February. The first film from his production house, directed by Anindya Banerjee, rolls this year too.
RITUPARNA SENGUPTA
Rituparna’s two home productions — Brishtir Chhayachhobi and Potadar Kirtee, both of which feature her — are on the floors. Her upcoming releases are Amol Palekar’s Avartan, Priyadarshan’s Bum Bum Bole, Warner Bros. SRK, Subhrajit Mitra’s Agun Pakhi and Partho Ghosh’s Rehmat Ali. Producing various TV shows is also on Rituparna’s radar.
DEV
His Bolo Na Tumi Amaar, co-starring Koel Mullick, is one of the hyped releases of 2010 (January 15). On the floors is the comedy Le Chhakka with Raj Chakraborty. Coming up is Raj’s untitled venture, produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, with Jeet and Koel.
KOEL MULLICK
The shoot of Apna Sa, Koel’s Bollywood debut produced by Vikram Bhatt, will keep her busy for some time. Raj’s film will be up next and talks are on for other projects.
JEET
Ravi Kinnagi’s untitled film co-starring Sharad Kapoor and Shrabanti will be up for release this year. In the pipeline is the Dev-Koel film by Raj.
SWASTIKA MUKHERJEE
On the floors is Raj Mukherjee’s Prithibi Amakey Chaye. Coming up are Uro Chithi (directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee), two films with Sharad Kapoor, an untitled film by Supriyo Sen film, two films with Jisshu and a potboiler by Swapan Saha.
JISSHU SENGUPTA
Abohomaan, Noukodubi, Aarekti Premer Golpo... Jisshu has meaty roles in top three 2010 releases. Hurumtal, a comedy directed by Anup Sengupta co-starring Paoli, is on the floors.
RAIMA SEN
She has four Tolly releases in 2010 — Noukodubi, The Japanese Wife, Aarekti Premer Golpo and Natobor Not Out — and Raima is likely to take up a few more “home” projects.
