1. TEASER: THE HATEFUL EIGHT
Quentin Tarantino has just unleashed the teaser trailer of his new Western The Hateful Eight — and it’s quite something! Running into 2:23, the gorgeously shot teaser focuses on a group of rapscallion strangers who are forced to bunk together when they are caught in a blizzard in Wyoming in the years following the American Civil War. QT keeps the tension alive right from the opening frames in the snow to the final whistle, capping the teaser with snappy dialogues and bringing together an A-plus ensemble cast — Samuel L. Jackson to Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern to Demian Bichir. Set to be released this Christmas exclusively in 70mm format, the week’s biggest YT hit has 5,103,719 roars.
2. AFGHAN JALEBI: PHANTOM
Katrina Kaif is smokin’ hot in the 2:45 video of Afghan jalebi, the first song from her Kabir Khan-directed August 28 film Phantom. Sung by Pakistani singer Asrar, this Pritam number scores for its foot-tapping tune and catchy lyrics (penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya) and has steadily climbed the charts ever since it hit airwaves. Total singalongs: 4,464,509. Arre wah, bhai wah!
3. MAIN HOON HERO TERA: HERO
If Katrina is on this list, can Salman Khan be far behind? Dressed in a black tee and looking oh-so-cool in black- rimmed glasses for a few frames, Salman goes behind the mic to sing the title song of Hero, in which he launches Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty. From pulling off those glasses to smiling into the camera to pretending to play a violin, the 2:40 video is all Salman. Scored by Sooraj dooba hai man Amaal Malik, Main hoon hero tera has 3,120,406 ogles.
4. TRAILER: SHAANDAAR
Vikas Queen Bahl returns with a romantic caper starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The 3:12 trailer of Shaandaar piques interest — especially in the first minute — with Shahid’s Jagjinder Joginder and Alia’s Alia making the transition from strangers who can’t stand each other to a couple in love. With a wedding as the backdrop — Shahid’s half-sister Sanah makes her debut here as the bride Isha — Sanjay Kapoor makes an over-the-top entry as a Punjabi loudmouth dressed in gold from tip to toe. The bits we loved? The fun interactions between Shahid and real-life dad Pankaj Kapur and Alia looking red-hot in a teeny-weeny pink bikini. Releasing on October 22, the Shaandaar trailer has been watched and rewatched 2,462,768 times.
5. TUNG TUNG BAAJE: SINGH IS BLING
Looks like the move to release a song before the trailer has paid off for Singh Is Bling with Tung tung baaje — filmed on leading man Akshay Kumar — making it to the YT Top 6 list within days of launch. Composed by Sneha Khanwalkar and sung by Diljit Dosanjh, Tung tung baaje has been shot in the interiors of Punjab and has Akshay in his elements — dancing atop a tractor to jumping through a hoop of fire. In one shot, he even makes a camel match steps with him! Also starring Amy Jackson and directed by Prabhu Deva, Tung tung baaje has 1,344,025 claps and cheers.
6. WORD BLURT WITH K-STEW
Kristen Stewart on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was challenged to a game of ‘Word Blurt’ — saying the first thing that comes to mind when a certain word is thrown up. While the Twilight star was a #fail in the initial minutes — she came up with the tamer ‘stick’ for ‘selfie’ with Fallon winning with ‘Kim Kardashian’ — she came into her own later. The killer? Mouse in somebody else’s urine.” Even khatron ka khiladi Bear Grylls — who often tries to prove he is a man and not a mouse — just couldn’t take it when he had to drink Fast and the Furious star Michelle Rodriguez’s urine while filming an episode of his show Running Wild! Shot in the Arizona desert, the survival expert decided to cook mouse stew and with zero water in sight, he had to fall back on Michelle’s “legitimate piss”! Bear somehow managed to chomp down his mouse piece and even swallow the “broth”. Michelle took a bite of the mouse and thought it tasted like chicken but the urine was just too much for her. “Urine has an ammonia thing going on and when you boil it… it doesn’t go away,” she said with a frown.
