Brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb always lived up to the title of their 1979 authorised biography, The Greatest. And on Sunday night, the CC&FC lawns overflowed to celebrate the quality that made them the greatest –– a deadly combination of lyrical gorgeousness and sonic razzmatazz.

Night Fever, the Canadian tribute band (which is part of a production that’s also called Night Fever), kept Bee Gees hits rolling for 90 minutes, extended by an encore.

Yup, all those classics were there –– Night Fever, Islands In The Stream, How Deep Is Your Love?, To Love Somebody, Massachusetts, Jive Talkin’, You Should Be Dancing… and that was enough to keep those young and not-so-young feet moving.

Making the Black Dog Easy Evenings programme special was John Ralphs (Barry), Michael Slute (Robin) and Matthew Whale’s (Maurice) near-perfect delivery and it included Barry Gibbs’s famed falsetto.

After all, this is the closest one would get to listening to uh-uh-uh Stayin’ Alive!
