The Hoichoi web series Gobhir Joler Maach follows four childhood friends Aratrika, Bishakha, Chandrima and Diti. They are doting mothers, caring wives and supportive friends who find themselves in a deadly game in which their lives turn haywire. Chandrima proposes a game of seduction to test the loyalty of Aratrika, Bishakha and Diti’s husbands. As the game proceeds, dirty secrets are revealed and the illusion of a happily married life shatters into pieces.

Swastika Dutta, who plays Aratrika on the show says, “Gobhir Joler Maach is a show about four flawed women. These women are not victims. There have grey shades to them; they like indulging in gossip, in playing mind games. Honestly these four women are very human. I play Aratrika on the show. She is someone who knows she is beautiful, is rather proud of it and knows how to use it to her advantage. She’s brutally honest at times and calls a spade a spade, irrespective of how it might make someone feel.”

Trina Saha plays Diti on the show. “When I first heard the script of the show, I was intrigued, to say the least. It’s very different from the kind of work I do or did and the story is a fresh take on how women are portrayed on screen. My character Diti is a homely, nurturing and simple woman on the surface. She is married into a traditional family with a loving and timid husband; but she wants more from life,” says Trina.

Ushasi Ray plays Bishakha. “I think Bishakha is the most scheming amongst the four women. She knows her strengths and others’ weaknesses and she expertly uses it to her advantage. All four women pose to be these prim and proper wives but secretly they all wish to be someone else and have what belongs to the other,” says Ushasi.

Ananya Sen, who plays Chandrima on the show, is the gossip monger of the group. “She knows everything about everyone, she’s like the harbinger of chaos. When it comes to her personal life, she’s initially the most uncomplicated of them all, but when things go downhill and she realises that her friends can’t really be trusted, she decides to bring everyone down with her. She feels a lot and hence hurts a lot, which leads her to do a lot of things that don’t really make sense and eventually leads to her and everyone’s worst nightmare.”
