Saif Ali Khan, who has been experimenting with roles like Omkara, Parineeta, Race and Chef, says he is constantly on the lookout for unconventional roles where he can reinvent himself.

The actor launched his upcoming film, Baazaar, at the Bombay Stock Exchange last Tuesday. Sounding the gong, he said: “I don’t look at work as business. I choose roles that excite and challenge me. I love to do roles where I am pushing the boundaries every day. I feel as an actor I am better than ever and more interested in my work than I have ever been. I am currently enjoying the growth every day.”

Fresh off the success and critical acclaim for the Netflix show Sacred Games, the actor said he is “learning new things”.

In Baazaar, he plays the role of Shakun Kothari, a ruthless Gujarati businessman who deals in stocks and “share bazaar”.

However, in real life Saif admits to not been able to understand figures and numbers.

“I am not good at it. Having said that I like to balance life with both maths and emotions. It’s great to have a planned life. This film is more about the good and the bad and dreams and ambitions. I play the bad guy. I had to learn Gujarati as I didn’t want my role to be caricature-ish. We have worked hard to understand the business and economics for the film. The film is relevant to the Indian audiences, as a lot of factual research has gone into the making,” he said smilingly.

Directed by debutant Gauravv K. Chawla and produced by Nikkhil Advani among others, Baazaar releases on October 24. Saif co-stars with Rohan Mehra, Chitrangda Singh and Radhika Apte.

Making her debut in a film produced by Salman Khan has been surreal for Warina Hussain of Loveyatri — releasing this Friday. Walking into her vanity van, you expect an accent from the Afghanistan-born debutante, but she welcomes you with her north Indian Hindi. She holds an energy drink to keep up with the hectic promotional schedule. An excerpt of a chat The Woods had with her before the release of the film:
