Supercars made for a super sunday at Quest. t2 picks some beauties

This was a Sunday with a difference at Quest mall. The selfies, for once, weren’t being shot in front of luxury brand stores but in front of swanky wheels. And while the air in the driveway was filled with the melody of revving supercar engines, the cars in the atrium were content to preen. Lined up were wonder wheels like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar and even a 1906 Renault Freres. The third edition of Beast on Wheels on May 14 made everyone in the mall gape and go click-click. This was the way for members of Club GT to come together for a party. The hearty meal that followed was served at The Irish House. Adarsh Tulshan, director, Bengal Harley-Davidson, and the man behind the show, said: “We wanted to have a party together in a different way and then Sanjeev Mehra, vice-president, Quest Properties India, came up with this idea of lining the luxury cars in the mall.”

Ferrari 488 GTB

This red beauty marks the return of the classic Ferrari model. Ferrari has always been Parveen Agarwal’s dream car and he is happy that he owns one. He loves driving this supercar every Sunday on the highways, going out of the city. “In town, it draws the attention of other drivers on the road and can cause too much chaos on the streets,” said Parveen.

Porsche Boxster S

For Souma Mondal, his Porsche Boxster S is perfect for a spin on the highway on a Sunday. This one-year-old car has brought him to the Quest mall for the third edition of Beast on Wheels. “I am in love with the power and the sound of the car,” said the businessman.

Jaguar XFR

Arijit Saha, owner of Jaguar XFR, is associated with his family business and shares his passion for cars with other members of Club GT. The Jaguar XFR has a 5-litre engine that belts out 510hp and is on a par with any sports car. This cat can hit 100kmph from standstill in 4.5 seconds. “This is a proper wolf in a sheep’s clothing. The car’s high performance is its big attraction,” said Arijit.

Lamborghini Huracan Avio

Suresh Tolani, the owner of this Lamborghini Huracan Avio, is clearly in love with his car which has a “matte finish paint job with orange highlights”. Suresh loves to fly it low on the highway.

1906 Renault Freres

This French machine is “the oldest car in Calcutta and one of the oldest running cars in India. This car is from a time when motor cars were taking over from horse-drawn carriages”, says its owner Shrivardhan Kanoria. The 111-year-old beauty runs on wooden wheels, and has a twin-cylinder engine and looks to make it stand out from the rest. Shrivardhan makes sure she mingles with the Calcutta traffic as little as possible.

Jan and Evie are from South Africa and had their eyes on the Lamborghini Huracans. Jan, who is associated with the Metro Railway, wished he could own it some day. The couple clicked pictures with the car and marked another wish on their list.
Gautam Shah and his kids were awestruck by the glam cars. His sons, Adhvik and Aaryaman had big differences on whether they should own a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.

Akshay Mehra, the founder and CEO of Auto Spa, is the keeper of the supercars. With Rupes and Bosch equipment, Auto Spa provides home services for the superwheels. “I am crazy about cars... I am truly passionate about them,” said Akshay.
