Shrabanti And Jeet Get Adventurous On The Floors KUSHALI NAG Published 17.03.11, 12:00 AM

Shrabanti and Soham had a close shave on the sets of Soumik Chattopadhyay’s untitled film last week. They were shooting by the river Teesta in north Bengal. The Amanush co-stars play lovebirds in the film produced by Shree Venkatesh Films.

“We were shooting the climax sequence where our characters are supposed to drown in the river. The scene had me jumping into the waters from Sevoke Bridge, while Bittu (Soham) would dive in to save me. Neither of us wanted to use a body double for the scene. The current in Teesta is very strong and seconds after wading into the river, we got swept away. Both of us are good swimmers but still we couldn’t fight the current. Thank god there was a boat nearby!” says Shrabanti.

Not one to be cowed, Shrabanti insisted on jumping from the bridge for the next shot. “When the unit told me that a dummy would be used for the jump, I pestered Soumikda to let me do the shot and he agreed half-heartedly. But someone from the team informed Monida (producer Mahendra Soni of Venkatesh), and he immediately called me and asked me to stop. Even my family members later told me not to act too smart,” rues the actress, who loves adventure.

“I like the adrenaline kick that these stunts give. I wish I was allowed to do some of the stunts,” she adds. Sigh.... If only her character in the film was adventurous.

“I play a sweet village girl called Mishti, who goes to college in Calcutta. Like her name, Mishti is a really sweet and coy girl. She meets the man of her dreams (Soham) on a train, in total Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge style! But then there are several twists and turns that I can’t reveal now,” chirps Shrabanti.
