THE X-FACTOR

1 TRAILER: X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
The trailer of X-Men: Apocalypse — the ninth film in the hit superhero franchise — packs a solid punch, telling us a lot, and more, about the May 27 biggie in just 2:29. From the first shot of Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) discussing the mutant’s standing in human society to a glimpse of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) involved in some kind of a secret ceremony, the trailer whets our appetites for a lot more. Also starring Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn and Rose Byrne among others, the week’s biggest YT hit has 13,429,158 thumbs-ups.

LOVE DITTY

2 SAB TERA: BAAGHI
Tiger Shroff grabs eyeballs with his ripped abs and Shraddha Kapoor makes eyes pop out with a bikini in Sab tera, the first number from their April 29 film Baaghi. Picturised on the pristine beaches of Krabi, the 2:25 number is composed by Amaal Mallik and sung by brother Armaan, with Shraddha lending her voice for the female vocals. And yes, Tiger does look good in a stubble. Singalongs: 3,209,193.

3 ALIA AND RANVEER BRING CUTE BACK

He’s a livewire and she brings her trademark freshness to whatever she does. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt get together — no, not for a film — for an ad for travel portal Make My Trip. And they make the 45-seconder a lot of fun. The storyboard: Ranveer as a Bangali babu — thick rimmed specs and neatly combed oily hair — walks out of the railway station and chances upon a smart-ass cab driver — Alia. When he enquires about hotels in the vicinity, she pockets Rs 500 and slips him her mobile phone with the Make My Trip app and asks him to choose from many options. After he chooses one, she wants her phone back... but he has the last word: only if she pays him Rs 500! Defined by the pair’s cute chemistry, the ad called #BefikarBookKar — Taxi has 1,661,221 honks to
its name.

SHE’S BACK!

4 TRAILER: BRIDGET JONES’S BABY

Twelve years after Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Renee Zellweger returns as the spunky Bridget Jones — 40-something and still single. After splitting from Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), she’s now concentrating on her job and looking to change her single status... but finds herself pregnant. There’s a small hitch: Bridget doesn’t know who the father is — Mark or her new lover Jack (Patrick Dempsey)! The trailer of the film — birthing September 16 — is worth a watch, despite a badly Botoxed Zellweger. Total ‘go Bridgets’: 1,072,549.

NICE NOSTALGIA

5 JUNGLE JUNGLE BAAT CHALI HAI

“Jungle jungle pataa chalaa hai... chaddi pehen ke phool khilaa hai.” Music man Vishal Bhardwaj and wordsmith Gulzar bring back our childhood Sunday mornings with the reworking of the classic track for the Hindi version of the Holly biggie The Jungle Book, releasing here on April 8. The fun lyrics are complemented by the quirky voices of a bunch of knee-high singers, with Gulzar and Vishal also appearing in the video. The 2:08 clip has been watched and rewatched 432,420 times.

TWO TO TANGO!

We’ve seen him dance — remember his cute moves with a bunch of Mumbai schoolkids in 2010? — but US President Barack Obama took twinkle toes to a whole new level, matching steps with a professional Tango dancer at a state dinner in the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires this week. Awkward at first — in contrast to wife Michelle who seemed at ease with her dance partner — Obama quickly got the  hang of things, moving swift and smooth across the floor, even as his Argentine counterpart Mauricio Macri clapped and cheered on. The President ended with a flourish, making sure he thanked his leggy partner for the dance. Watch the video on
