If I wasn’t a cricketer, I’d be: In the army. It’s a dream that I still nurture and one I would love to see coming true.
A bowling legend I would have liked to face: I don’t like bowlers from any era! Any bowler who I can score off and will give me freebies would do. I’m not choosy!!
If I could ask for one talent, it would be: I wish I could dance well.
The best rumour I have read/heard about myself: Every now and then I am linked with some girl or the other, most of whom I have not even met. These rumours are rather flattering but it’s also quite weird to hear things that you know did not happen.
The superhero I would like to be: The one SRK is playing in Ra.One has some really cool powers.
My favourite Bollywood actress: Rani Mukerji.
My song for all moods: Tujhse naraaz nahin from Masoom.
My favourite book: I love reading books about Shahid Bhagat Singh, who was and remains my idol.
My fitness regimen: Being regular is a key for me, as well as keeping it simple. I gym, run and do weights. I have a busy schedule but try to squeeze in a gym session somewhere in the day.
My diet tips: I eat everything and everything else! However, being a sportsman, I try to go easy on junk food. It’s a temptation that I resist more often than not. But on the days I succumb, I make sure that I do a bit extra at the gym to compensate.
My pets: I have a Labrador called Buddy and an Alsatian called Bruno who are my companions at home.
My favourite places to travel: It’s got to be New Zealand. The natural beauty is breathtaking and the fresh, clean air is invigorating. The warmth and friendliness of the people coupled with the myriad sporting activities make this an ideal spot to relax and unwind.
For me, Calcutta means: My home and a city where I want to spread joy and happiness, and take pride in.
For me, KKR means: The best thing that has happened to me. The warmth of the owners and the superb support staff have ensured that this is the most relaxed IPL season I have had in four years.
My favourite Shah Rukh Khan film: It’s a tie between DDLJ and Chak De! India.

If I wasn’t a cricketer: I’d be hosting my own fishing show travelling the country and allowing the viewers to see what a fantastic country Australia is.
The cricket legends I would have liked to bowl to: Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Vivian Richards and Sir Garfield Sobers. The only way to get better is to test yourself against the best.
I am creeped out by: Coulrophobia (an irrational fear of clowns).
I am addicted to: Fishing! I can’t get enough time relaxing and taking in the serenity plus the anticipation of catching that fish.
Something no one knows about me: I have a farm and breed cattle and I also have a tractor!
My kind of books: I enjoy reading magazines particularly fishing and property ones.
The most embarrassing thing that has happened to me: Bleaching my cricket whites the night before a game to get the dirt out. While running into bowl, my pants split because I had used too much bleach!
If I could trade places with any person for a week: I’d like to be Tim Cahill (Australian soccer player who plays for Everton and the Australian national team) for a week!
If I could be a superhero I would want: To be able to give all kids the opportunities and experiences that cricket has given me.
My song for all moods: All kinds of rock music will always get me going!
My autobiography would be called: You will all know later in the year!
My favourite Shah Rukh Khan film: Om Shanti Om.
My pets: Given that I travel so much, I can’t have a pet at home but I do raise Angus cattle on my farm in the Southern Highlands.
My fitness regimen: As a fast bowler, I need to be extremely fit and it’s year-round training for me with a particular focus on core strength work around my lower back, hips and stomach. It is where I generate most of my power from. I also need to work on my flexibility, endurance, strength, power and speed. Of course, I always work constantly on my aerobic capacity. A key part is also recovering well to ensure that I am well-prepared for the next day’s play, so applying ice, massage and compression play a key role during a match or a sustained exercise programme.
My favourite places to travel: Southern Highlands of NSW and South Coast of NSW.
The words I use most on a cricket field: “thank you”! Manners cost nothing.
