After more than a hearty iftar, you may presume that we had slipped into a #FoodComa, but the foodie in us wasn’t done yet. It was destination Zakaria Street again, this time for some #ShahiSehri. We checked out a few fave spots that people hang out at for Sehri and leave for morning prayers thereafter.

The crispy Dal Puris @ Rs 4 each at Sufia Restaurant have many loyalists who come in around 2am to pack some for their families at home.
At Rs 25 a piece, you must not forget to pack a few of these fluffy Sheermaals sold at stalls along Zakaria Street. Not only do they make the perfect companion with any sort of curry, their mild sweetness makes them a hit with chai as well!
The moment you enter Zakaria Street and walk up to Sufia Restaurant, you’ll be standing right outside a small stall that sells one of the softest Shahi Tukdas for Rs 25 a plate. We couldn’t stop at just one!
t2 loved the chilled Faluda, just the right mix of sip and bite to beat the heat.
If you’re somebody who loves fried food even at night, then stop by Taskeen Restaurant at 16 Zakaria Street. Customers start flocking in by 1am and grab the plastic stools set up all over the empty street. The bestsellers? Murgh Changezi @ Rs 440 per kilo, Maahi Akbari @ Rs 640 per kilo and Faluda @ Rs 45 a glass.

Right next to Taskeen Restaurant on Zakaria Street is another Sehri spot, Dilli 6, which serves typical Old Delhi-style Chicken Fry, which is essentially double-fried crispy chicken @ Rs 360 (one full chicken). The other dish that sells like hot cakes is their Afghani Chicken, which is fried chicken served in a gravy made of fresh cream and butter @ Rs 520 (full). It tastes best with their Rumali Roti or Butter Naan. As the chicken was being fried in the massive cauldron, the chef performed a fire trick as our camera went click-click!

PHOTO FRAMES

Zakaria Street is a photographer’s delight during iftar and Sehri. Here are some mood shots...

The streets are strewn with stalls selling sewai and lachha. Easy to cook and with a fragrant aroma, they form an integral part of Ramazan meals in most households.
Sharing is an integral part of eating. Here, a group of boys prep for Sehri.
Chicken being skewered on a busy Saturday night as the crowd starts pouring in for Sehri.
Attar, clothes, fabric for Id kurtas, Kolhapuri chappals, towels, curtains and much more... the Ramazan market on Zakaria Street is a colourful mix.
