If you end up loving Milee Droog, thank Russian girl Irina Kolesnichenko and Bengali boy Satyaki Manna for their mili juli.
The Moscow-based Irina fell in love with Satyaki, a city-based entrepreneur, in 2011, got married and packed her bags to settle in Calcutta. Among all the things she sorely missed was the food back home, which inspired her doting hubby to set up a Russian cafe!

Enter, Milee Droog (meaning ‘dear friend’ in Russian), a 45-cover cafe-cum-bistro at Gorky Sadan on AJC Bose Road.
“Anyone can drop in at the cafe and we serve cuisines other than Russian as well. Our steak and sandwiches are my favourites,” said Apratim Mukherjee, Satyaki’s friend and co-partner who joined in the venture simply because he “can’t resist good food”.

Russian food may seem bland to a regular Calcutta palate. So, the spiciness has been spiked up “a little in each of these dishes”. Well, that’s what a ‘milee droog’ is for!
