Netflix has released its 2024 current slate, which incorporates a thrilling array of new and returning shows, original movies and games for the current year, the streaming giant announced on social media on Thursday.

One of the most anticipated new releases on Netflix this year is the adaptation of Liu Cixin's existential sci-fi novel The Three-Body Problem, spearheaded by Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. Featuring a stellar cast including Eiza González, Benedict Wong and Rosalind Chao, the show promises a grand exploration of humanity’s encounter with extraterrestrial life.

Adding to the excitement is Ripley, an origin series based on Patricia Highsmith's novels, starring Andrew Scott as the titular con artist. The diverse line-up of adaptations also includes Neil Gaiman’s supernatural mystery graphic novel Dead Boy Detectives and Candace Millard's novel Death By Lightning.

Biographical miniseries Senna, exploring the life of Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna, will premiere on Netflix, promising a thrilling ride for Formula 1 enthusiasts.

The streaming giant is also delving into the world of K-pop, partnering with HYBE, the largest corporation in the industry, for a series documenting the creation of Katseye — a US-based girl group.

For sports enthusiasts, The Netflix Slam offers a Las Vegas exhibition match between tennis legend Rafael Nadal and new prodigy Carlos Alcaraz, showcasing Netflix's commitment to investing in live sports content.

Cinematic lineups: Rebel Moon 2, Back in Action and more

Cameron Diaz takes on the role of a former spy re-entering the espionage world in the upcoming action-comedy Back in Action, where she shares the screen with Jamie Foxx. The promotional footage showcases the pair engaging in intense action sequences.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Scargiver, slated for an April 19 release, promisess epic battle scenes as a continuation of the December 2023 instalment. Additionally, Eddie Murphy’s highly anticipated return in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is scheduled for a summer 2024 debut.

Dating show Love is Blind is back with weekly instalments, while favourites like Selling Sunset, Unsolved Mysteries and The Ultimatum are set to keep viewers glued to the screen.

In the comedy genre, Girls5eva makes its way to Netflix with its star-studded cast. Additionally, the collaboration between Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow in No Good Deed explores middle-aged financial insecurity, providing a comedic take on the challenges of life.

Squid Game, which became the most-watched show on Netflix, is making a triumphant return after nearly three years, promising a fresh take on the dystopian challenge that captured the world’s attention. Lee Jung-jae's Seong Gi-hun is back, joined by a new cast of characters as they navigate the perilous games orchestrated by a mysterious cabal.

Much to the delight of Bridgerton enthusiasts, the third season of the historic romance series will arrive on Netflix in two instalments. Other popular shows like Outer Banks, Emily in Paris and The Diplomat are set to captivate audiences once again with new seasons.
