Expressing her excitement over the Cannes screening of Girls Will Be Girls, Richa said the project is very close to their heart and it is overwhelming to see that the film is being recognised around the world.

“Producing this film has been a labour of love and to see it resonate with audiences globally is incredibly fulfilling. We believe in the power of stories that challenge and inspire. Girls Will Be Girl speaks to the complexities of growing up, and we can't wait for the Cannes audience to experience it,” she added.

Describing Girls Will Be Girls as a special project, Ali said the response at Sundance was beyond their expectations. “Now its premiering at Cannes is a dream come true,” he also said.

“Suchi Talati has crafted a beautiful, poignant story that deserves this platform. We are proud to be part of a film that not only entertains but also sparks important conversations. This is just the beginning, and we are excited for what’s to come,” the Fukrey actor added.

Girls Will Be Girls follows the journey of 16-year-old Mira whose rebellious coming of age is disrupted by her young mother, who never got the opportunity to experience a normal teenage life.

The film bagged the Audience Award for World Cinema Dramatic Competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and its lead actor Preeti Panigrahi won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting at the festival.

Girls Will Be Girls is produced by Chadha and Fazal's joint venture Pushing Buttons Studios in collaboration with Blink Digital and Dolce Vita Films.
