Percy Jackson and his friends are about to embark on yet another adventure, this time to get the Golden Fleece, which is the only thing that can save the tree guarding Camp Half-Blood without which the camp will be destroyed by monsters. Percy, accompanied by Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, have to cross the Sea of Monsters to save the day.

The demi-gods

Percy Jackson (Logan lerman): The son of the Greek god Poseidon, one of the big three in Olympus (Zeus and Hades being the other two), Percy is the main protagonist of the series. Labelled ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and dyslexic, Percy discovers he is a demi-god (tuned for fighting and activity, hence ADHD, and for reading Greek, hence dyslexic) at the age of 12 and is sent to Camp Half-Blood. Trouble follows him wherever he goes. Percy is a natural leader and his fatal flaw is excessive loyalty. As the son of Poseidon he can control water and even breathe under it.

Weapon: Riptide, a pen that turns into a sword and always reappears in Percy’s pocket.

annabeth chase (ALEXANDRA DADDARIO): She is the daughter of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, and is extremely intelligent, witty, analytical and logical. She has been at Camp Half-Blood for many years and is the counsellor for Cabin 6 (Athena’s cabin). Interested in architecture, she can be seen poring over designs of old buildings and designing new ones. Brave and daring, her fatal flaw is hubris or excessive pride and, like all Athena children, she has arachnophobia (an extreme fear of spiders). Annabeth becomes Percy’s girlfriend at the end of the series.

Weapon: Celestial Bronze Knife.

clarisse la rue (LEVEN RAMBIN): Clarisse is the daughter of the Greek god of war Ares and is the head counsellor for Cabin 5 (the Ares cabin). She is one of the best fighters in Camp Half-Blood — extremely swift, agile and powerful. Her temper and arrogance make her unpopular with the members of the other cabins and she is often considered a bully. She will play an important role in Sea of Monsters, as she is officially given the quest for the Golden Fleece.

Weapon: Maimer, a spear that emits electrical charge.

luke castellan (JAKE ABEL): The son of Hermes, the Greek god of commerce, thieves, travellers and sports, was very close to Annabeth and had come to Camp Half-Blood with her. But he betrayed his friends by giving in to the evil Titan Kronos. He is the main mortal antagonist of the series and is one of the main villains in Sea of Monsters. A master swordsman.

Weapon: Backbiter, a double-edged sword made of two metals — tempered steel and celestial bronze — meant to wound and kill both mortal demi-gods and immortals.

The friends

Grover underwood (bRANDON T. JACKSON): The satyr (half-man /half-goat) is one of the best seekers (those who look for demi-gods) in Camp Half-Blood who helped Percy, Annabeth, Luke and many others get to the safety of the camp. Cheerful and upbeat, he has a fondness for coffee, tin cans and enchiladas. He chews on furniture when nervous and is scared of underground places and cyclopes.

Rainbow: A hippocampus, a half-fish/half-horse, who is befriended and named by Tyson. He is the largest among his species and carries Tyson on his back. He was initially a gift from Percy’s father Poseidon, at the beginning of the quest.

tyson (DOUGLAS SMITH): A cyclops and a son of Poseidon, and so a half-brother to Percy. Percy befriended Tyson at Meriwether College Prep where they were both studying and later found out that he is a cyclops. Tyson is a dab hand with metalwork and is immune to fire. He is brutally strong and is very protective of Percy and Annabeth.

chiron (ANTHONY HEAD): The activity director of Camp Half-Blood is a centaur and the son of Kronos. He is a father figure to most of the campers and would put himself in danger to keep them safe. He is very fond of Percy and helps train him.

The monsters

Polyphemus: A blind cyclops — another son of Poseidon — who lives on an island in the Sea of Monsters. He stole the Golden Fleece and uses it to make his island flourish. He has Grover as a prisoner.

Hydra: A vicious, acid-spitting monster with multiple heads, one of which is immortal. When one head is decapitated, two more snake-heads grow in its place. Percy fights a Hydra at a Monster Donut outlet and is saved by Clarisse.

Colchis Bull: Bronze bulls the size of elephants created by Hephaestus, the son of Zeus and Hera. Two bulls attack Camp Half-Blood while Thalia’s Tree that guards the camp is poisoned. They are practically immune to damage, they can breathe fire and their skin is burning hot.

Charybdis: Once a naiad (a water nymph), the daughter of Poseidon was turned into a monster forever by Zeus. She takes the form of a huge mouth with gigantic teeth that swallows water and debris three times a day, creating massive whirlpools. Located in Bermuda Triangle.
