Michael Cera, Chris Evans and Brie Larson from original cast to return as voice actors in Netflix's Scott Pilgrim anime series

The voice cast of the upcoming series will also include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aubrey Plaza, Anna Kendrick and Kieran Culkin

Netflix has announced a new anime series based on popular comic book-based movie Scott Pilgrim with the original movie cast, including Michael Cera, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, lending their voices to the characters they had played in the 2010 action comedy.

The streaming giant took to Twitter to announce the news on Thursday. “🚨🚨THIS IS NOT A DRILL!🚨🚨 Announcing Scott Pilgrim, an anime series voiced by the cast of the 2010 film! It comes from executive producers Edgar Wright, Bryan Lee O’Malley, and BenDavid Grabinski and is animated by Science Saru,” reads the tweet.

The upcoming series is from popular anime house Science SARU and is created, written and executive produced by O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski.

In its one-minute-four-second cast announcement video on YouTube on the same day, Netflix treated Scott Pilgrim fans to a glimpse of the familiar background and sound of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World as well as familiar names popping up on the screen.

In the anime series, Cera will be returning as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Johnny Simmons as Young Neil, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Larson as Envy Adams and Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells.

The series will also feature a few of Ramona's evil exes, with Chris Evans returning as Lucas Lee, Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter, and Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves.

Edgar Wright, who had helmed the 2010 movie, shared the voice cast-unveiling video on Twitter. “This is not a drill! This is happening! After much musing over the years about there being potential for an anime adaptation of ‘Scott Pilgrim’, I’m thrilled to say one is IMMINENT, with the whole cast back together and… you are going to lose your minds,” he wrote. The tweet was reshared by Hollywood A-listers such as Chris Evans and Brie Larson.

In the 2010 film, Scott Pilgrim, a slacker musician. meets Ramona and instantly falls in love with her. But when Scott meets one of her exes at a band competition, he realises that he has to deal with her seven evil exes to woo her.
