Maamannan, VD12, Daredevil Musthafa, Thrishanku: New trailers, teasers and posters from South

Here’s a quick recap of the week that was for the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam film industries

Following the release of Rajinikanth’s Jailer teaser and Naga Chaitanya’s Custody trailer, the makers of several upcoming Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films dropped new trailers and teasers last week. Here’s a look.

Maamannan (Tamil)


The makers of the upcoming Tamil-language film Maamannan unveiled its poster. Written and directed by Mari Selvaraj, the movie stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vadivel and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles.

In the poster, Davidel and Satil are seen sitting in adjacent chairs, with the latter holding a long knife. The film’s music has been scored by A.R. Rahman.

VD12 (Telugu)

Vijay Deverakonda starts shooting for his upcoming Telugu-language film tentatively titled VD12. Directed by Goutham Tinnanuri, who is known for helming Jersey. The film also stars Sree Leela opposite Deverakonda, who tweeted images from the muhurat of the film alongside the director and co-stars.

Anirudh Ravichander will score music for the film.

Daredevil Musthafa (Kannada)

PRK Audio released the official trailer of the Kannada-language sports comedy film Daredevil Musthafa. Directed by Shashank Soghal, the film is based on a short story of the same name by K.P. Poornachandra Tejaswi. It stars Shishir Baikady, Aditya Ashree, Abhay, Supreeth Bharadwaj, Aashith, Srivatsa and Prerana.

The three-minute-35-second-long trailer follows Ramanuja Iyengari and his gang’s plan to get Musthafa expelled from the college to cement his place as the most popular student. A series of fun-filled adventures lead to a riveting cricket match which will decide everybody’s fate.

Daredevil Musthafa will arrive in cinemas on May 19.

Thrishanku (Malayalam)

Think Music India unveiled the trailer of its upcoming Malayalam-language romantic comedy film Thrishanku. Written and directed by Achyuth Vinayak, it stars Anna Benn, Arjun Ashokan, Suresh Krishna, Zarin Shihab, Nandhu, Fahim Safar and Shiva Hariharan.

The two-minute-34-second-long trailer shows Arjun Ashokan’s and Anna Benn’s characters planning to elope to get married. However, on that day, they board a bus along with his two uncles as his sister also eloped in the morning. The clip also shows some glimpses of their hilariously troublesome journey.

Thrishanku will hit theatres on May 26.
