Actors, industrialists, politicians, fashion designers, musicians and many more famous faces dropped by to wish newly-weds Mayank, son of industrialist Mahendra Kumar and Shashi Jalan, and Parvana, daughter of Rohinton Kurus Babaycon and Nilufer Babaycon, at Royal Calcutta Golf Club Lawns on Tuesday evening.
The star guest was Vivek Oberoi with wife Priyanka Alva. “I am happy to be a part of Mayank’s celebrations. His family knows our family for over 40 years. Their family lived in Chennai before coming to Calcutta. At that time, my mother’s family was their neighbour. When my mom was young, she used to tie rakhi to Mayank’s dad,” laughed the actor.

Vivek was also accompanied on the trip by his son, who was taken to Kalighat on Tuesday morning. “It’s my son’s first trip to Calcutta. It is amazing to be here. People here have a lot of respect for creative people.”
Quizzed about Krrish 3’s soaring success, the film’s badman grinned, “I was telling Rakesh (Roshan) uncle that you are the Sachin Tendulkar of Bollywood! I had two back-to-back successful films, Grand Masti and Krrish 3, and a popular TV show, India’s Best Dramebaaz. I have worked hard for it. Currently I am taking some time off to spend time with my family before looking forward to the next project.”
