Suspension of cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul (Season 6, Episode 12)

The 12th episode of Season 6 of the show in 2019 had team India cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul as guests. The two young cricketers got too carried away with their conversation and ended up making unsavoury comments about women and their sex lives. The cricketers were put under provisional suspension by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following their remarks. Later, Disney+Hotstar also removed the episode from their platform.

Kangana Ranaut’s nepotism jab at Karan (Season 5, Episode 16)

The Tanu Weds Manu actress was on her second appearance on the show when she decided to call Karan out for perpetuating nepotism in Bollywood. She called the Student of the Year director the “flag bearer of nepotism”. Kangana’s co-guest Saif Ali Khan uncomfortably sat through the episode as the actress and director took jabs at each other. While Karan mocked Kangana’s accent, Kangana called Karan “snooty”. Ever since the episode, the two do not seem to see eye to eye.

Alia Bhatt’s lack of general knowledge (Season 4, Episode 5)

To promote his movie Student of the Year, Karan hosted its young cast in 2013. Appearing on the show took an ugly turn for Alia Bhatt after she gave an incorrect answer in one of the quiz segments. When asked who the president of India was, Alia replied “Prithviraj Chauhan” (instead of Pranab Mukherjee). Alia was severely trolled for the faux pas.

Sonam Kapoor’s harsh comments on actor’s looks and acting skills (Season 4, Episode 18)

Since her Koffee with Karan debut in Season 3, Sonam Kapoor has been noted for making catty comments about many people including Ranbir Kapoor and writer Shobhaa De. However, it was her Season 4 appearance alongside her father Anil Kapoor that saw Sonam making extremely harsh comments about other actors. “If you’re not good-looking, they think you are a good actor. Just because you look ordinary and you talk loud doesn’t mean you’re a good actor,” Sonam had stated.

Deepika Padukone’s bitterness over her breakup with Ranbir Kapoor (Season 3, Episode 3)

While Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor seem to have happily moved on with their respective life partners, there was a point in time when the Piku actress was still bitter about her ex. The two had been dating for around two years till they broke up a few months before Deepika’s 2010 appearance on Koffee with Karan. When asked what her former partner should endorse, Deepika said “condom brand”. She also ranked Ranbir the lowest when asked to rank several actors on their sex appeal.

Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s exchange on fake comments (Season 3, Episodes 5 & 7)

The season finale of Season 6 of Koffee with Karan had Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra as its guests. This was done to put to rest the controversy the two actresses had stirred up back in Season 3 of the show. Featuring alongside Saif Ali Khan, Kareena had mocked Priyanka for having a fake accent. Priyanka, in a following episode, hit back at Kareena by saying that she got the accent from the same place that the Jab We Met actress’ then-boyfriend Saif got his accent from.

Ranveer Singh’s comment made Anushka Sharma uncomfortable (Season 3, Episode 16)

Ranveer Singh has been one of the most interesting celebrities to watch on Koffee with Karan. His outlandish actions and comments on the show mostly enliven it. However, in Season 3 his comments did not go down well with co-guest Anushka Sharma. He quipped that if Anushka wanted her bottom pinched, he was right there. This took his Band Baaja Baaraat co-star by surprise and she responded by telling Ranveer to not talk to her in that manner. Additionally, his comment, “I went from child to boy” about Kareena in a swimsuit did not bode well for him. He later admitted that he got carried away with his comments as it was his first talk show.
