Illustrations by Mario Miranda inspired the design of a wall which also has the menu written on it.

What: Skewers
Where: 16A/1 Earle Street, near Maddox Square, Hazra
When: 12.30pm to 10.30pm, open all days
Meal for two: Around Rs 600

Stoneheaven’s Fried Chocolate Bar: Mars bar covered in Japanese panko crumbs and deep fried, then drizzled with chocolate sauce and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. So the outside is crunchy while the inside is gooey.
The Meat Lover’s Platter consists of four types of skewers — Mutton Galouti Kebab (minced mutton mixed with chana dal and kebab masala), Chicken Satay (which has an overpowering taste of peanut butter), Fire Cracker Chicken (which is mildly spicy) and Barbeque chicken (marinated with a special barbecue sauce) — making it perfect for sharing.

Food skewered on a stick and cooked on an open flame is something that humans have been practicing from the prehistoric times. At the newly-opened Skewers in Hazra, they are grilling skewered food such as meats and veggies on a pan to avoid the extra smoky flavour that comes with open flame or cooking on charcoal.

The 18-seater restaurant serving Continental and Oriental cuisine is a passion project of the husband-wife duo of Ankita Banerjee, a lawyer, and Bikram Banerjee, a chartered accountant. “We were inspired by Southeast Asian food which made us think of other cuisines that could be served on skewers. Our intention is to present international cuisine with this concept,” said Ankita.

Panko-fried Stuffed Mushroom: Button mushroom stuffed with chopped mushroom, bell peppers, onion, garlic and cheese, covered in panko crumbs and deep fried. It’s a non-spicy, cheesy bite.

Goan cafes inspire the restaurant’s interior, which is apparent from the wall which features Mario Miranda-esque cartoons. Choose from Meat Lovers Platter to Stuffed Creamy Fish or Malai Mushroom which are some of the best sellers at the eating joint. To make the menu more inclusive, there are also soups, pastas and noodles on offer.
