Vividha, presented by the Hindi Literary Society of St. Xavier’s College and powered by t2, lived up to its name with a wide variety of events, from dance and drama to singing and stand-up comedy.

The day-long event on March 25 was inaugurated by Father Felix Raj, the principal of St. Xavier’s College. Professor Shoma Bandhopadhyay, the registrar of University of Calcutta, was the chief guest.

Loreto College, iLead and Presidency University were among the 11 participating colleges.

Dhun, the singing competition, saw students performing hits like Maahi ve and Bulleya. Taal Se Taal, the dance competition, had participants matching steps to motley Bollywood numbers.

Rang Manch, the drama competition, saw students of St. Xavier’s College focusing on cleanliness in the railway platforms.

The hosts bagged the first prize.

Fuhaar, the stand-up comedy show, was the most-awaited event. Aman Ajay Pandey, a first-year political science student of St. Xavier’s College, had the crowd in splits with his jokes on unrequited love.

Off-stage events included photography, essay-writing and rangoli.

“Vividha used to be one of the larger literary fests in St. Xavier’s College till a few years back. The entire team directed their efforts to restore the old glory of the society and the fest. After all, our language is an integral part of our life and we must use such opportunities to celebrate it,” said Mrinal Saraf, the president of Hindi Literary Society.
