The opening credits scenes where a dejected Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) wanders aimlessly on the streets, first leaving his car and phone behind, and then dropping his possessions, one by one, without any thought. A great cinematic portrayal of his state of mind.
After the ticket checker moves away, the conversation between Aditya and Geet (Kareena Kapoor), where he bursts out but immediately apologises, but Geet keeps talking away… even in her sleep!
The interaction with the Hotel Decent receptionist, followed by Geet and Aditya’s chat inside the room and then that sudden raid on the hotel. Too much fun!
That LOL exchange between Geet and her suitor Manjit Mann.
The deep conversation Geet and Aditya have on the rooftop while the rest of the household searches for the ‘runaway’ couple.
Aditya persuading and convincing a broken-down Geet to pack her bags and leave with him and Geet abusing Anshuman over the phone.
That scene towards the end, when Aditya walks away and Anshuman is busy telling Geet how he has planned to sort things out. His words die down by the noise of a passing train as Geet only looks up at him lost in thought…. She finally starts listening to what her heart is telling her.
What a film! (What is your favourite Jab We Met moment... October 26)
Anamitra Bhaduri
I am a huge fan of this movie and can go on and on talking about it. If I really have to select one moment then it will be when Aditya and Geet finally confess their love for each other. That is the most beautiful ending to a film. t2, thank you for talking about Jab We Met… it really means a lot to me.

I can’t believe that Jab We Met has turned 10! The film has given me so many beautiful moments, the best being the dialogue, “Main apni favourite hoon”. The chubbiness of her cheeks, the innocence of her heart, the honesty of her mind and the silliness of her brains are what made Geet such a heart-warming character. The film gave us two poles-apart characters, but director Imtiaz Ali beautifully tied together the two ideologies and taught us that we require both of them in life. Even today, Jab We Met remains one of the greatest romcoms ever made. Cheers to Imtiaz Ali.

Every moment of Jab We Met teaches me how to enjoy my life… life is too short to worry. “Main apni favourite hoon” has taught me to love myself for what I am and what I will become.
Shreosi Saha, Bhagabati Devi Balika Vidyalaya
My favourite moment is the same as picked by Paoli Dam. The scene in the hotel room in Shimla, when Geet is depressed and Aditya tells her to let it out. The slang language she uses. Actually I am like that, whenever I get depressed I just say whatever comes to my mind… but in front of a mirror!

Jab We Met is a movie etched in my heart. I was probably in Class I when the film released and the first time I watched it on TV was with my father. I don’t think I understood much then, but the song Yeh ishq haaye made a permanent place in my dil. As a child, that was the first song that became my favourite. I think the best part of the movie is this song, where Geet and Aditya drive between mounds of snow. When we went to Rohtang Pass, this was the song we played the whole way. Geet the chatterbox is definitely one of Kareena’s best performances. I have lost count of how many times I have watched the film… Geet and Aditya rule my heart. #10YearsOfJabWeMet

Ten years have passed, but the fresh romance of Jab We Met still resonates in our hearts. Geet was incredible, and the brilliant chemistry between Geet and Aditya and the soothing music added to the film. t2 has already included all the scenes I love, but I would also pick the moment where Aditya softens towards his mother (played by Divya Shah). That boardroom scene where Aditya gives a charming smile to her says it all… that’s when he learnt to give her respect and the position she rightly deserves. Kudos to Imtiaz Ali for the concept and great direction and warm wishes to the entire team for their exceptional journey. I will always yearn for a Geet-like person in my otherwise footloose life.
Saurav Gupta, Narendrapur
I am one of the biggest fans of Jab We Met and the film is always on my phone. I have seen it many times and in every mood. The film, on the whole, is very memorable, but my favourite moment is the 5am conversation in the fields between Aditya and Geet.
Krittika
Jab We Met is one of my favourite movies. Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are brilliant in the film. There are many scenes from the film that I love, but my favourite is the climax scene. Kareena’s acting in that scene touches our hearts.
Sourish Misra, Salt Lake
My favourite moment is when Geet jumps into the lake holding Aditya’s hand. It was just mind-blowing!

To select a favourite moment from the film is just not possible because right from the first scene to the last, each and every incident is fresh. The characters of Aditya and Geet are close to the heart. This romantic comedy has created a new dimension in Bollywood. A movie to be loved, cherished and preserved in our hearts forever.

Jab We Met has turned 10… yay! You asked what we love about the movie, but is there anything we don’t love about this movie? I have watched it countless times and still love to rewatch it. Geet has inspired me a lot and has taught me to talk freely, laugh freely, do whatever my heart wants and to never give up because bad times will pass and there will be good times waiting for us. According to me, this is the best romcom by Imtiaz Ali Sir and a big thanks to him for creating such a beautiful character like Geet.
Chetana Saha, The BSS School

Jab We Met is my all-time favourite film because it can make you smile anytime, anywhere. The best moments were many… like the ball dance in the song Tum se hi and when Geet forces Aditya to tear the picture of his girlfriend and flush it down the toilet so that he feels better. I have personally used this advice to get relief from my depression, so a ton of thanks to her. Also, the song Aao milo chalo was heart-touching. The best moment was when Geet gives gaalis over the phone to Anshuman. Whenever I watch this film, I think of myself as Geet.

A decade is indeed a long time, but then Jab We Met never makes me feel that way because it’s one of the best love stories I have ever watched. I salute Imtiaz Ali for this. It’s very difficult to come up with just one favourite moment since the movie is so close to my heart, but I keep listening to two of its songs — Aao milo chalo and Tum se hi. Whenever I am on a long drive, I listen to Aao milo chalo… it’s appealing enough to be called the ‘journey song’. And whenever it rains, nothing can be better than Tum se hi to match the mood and the soothing pitter-patter of rain. It’s soulful and I love the line, Raaste mil jaate hain, manzilein mil jaati hain, tum se hi, tum se hi.... Thank you, t2, for celebrating a decade of Jab We Met… I enjoyed the party on pages 8 and 9.
Anuvab Deb Sinha
My favourite moment is when Aditya convinces, and then almost forces Geet to call Anshuman (who she should have actually thanked since she got Aditya after he dumped her), abuse him and take out all her anger. The feeling that someone is genuinely trying to relieve your stress is very special. Few are that lucky to have such a caring partner. Wish I too had someone that special in my life *sigh*.
Ushree Banerjee
Jab We Met is undoubtedly my favourite movie and it turned 10… I felt really old when I saw the t2 cover! I was in Class VI when it released and till today, I’ve watched it over 200 times!
For me, Aditya is the prototype of the perfect guy. I cannot choose just one scene as a favourite, but that scene where Geet famously said, “Main apni favourite hoon” has been close to my heart. Those few words spoke a lot… they taught me to love myself. A Geet resides in every girl. The character is one of the few Bolly characters who is very realistic. She is someone whom I grew up imitating. The friendship-over-love kind of relationship was something I envied. The movie, although a decade old, clearly sets several goals even now.

Geet can talk a mile a minute and always has a smile on her face. Her motto in life is to live it to the fullest and only regret what you haven’t tried. She’s spontaneous and fun and gets Aditya to join in even when he initially balks at her ideas, such as when she decides to jump into a river. Aditya is a likable guy. He does get irritated at Geet at times but quickly realises that she’s opened up a whole new side to his personality and made him a better person. During the first half of the film, it’s like watching a shrivelled plant soak up water and come to life again. Jab We Met is an absolutely 5-star film of which I love every part.
Dayita Chakraborty
JWM is an incredible film, right from the start to the kissing scene towards the end. It’s one of the best romantic films I have watched in the last 50 years. It’s difficult to single out a favourite moment because there are so many. However, my vote would go to the scene in Shimla where Aditya requests Geet to come back with her but she refuses to accept any more favours from him. Aditya tells her that the success he has achieved is only due to her influence over him and that he should be in debt to her and not the other way round. In an indirect way, Aditya declares his love by acknowledging that a man can conquer the world if there is a worthy woman behind him.

Jab We Met is one of my favourite films. I make it a point to watch it whenever it’s aired on TV. My fave moment is the introduction scene where we get to see Geet for the first time. We are introduced to this bubbly and cheerful girl who can make anyone smile even in the most serious situation. She lives life on her own terms. Kareena is my fave actress and I don’t think anyone could have played Geet as well as her. Dear t2, I am a big fan of Kareena’s… if she ever comes to your office, can you please make me meet her? Plzzzzzzz.
Jaspreet Kaur
I can’t imagine it’s been 10 years since I first saw JWM in the theatre. It was one of the best movies of that time... a modern love story told differently with perfect characters by an intelligent director. Kudos to Kareena and Shahid. I can still recall every moment from the movie because of its freshness. Every moment, every dialogue, every incident seemed so real and relatable that we can’t help but say, “Yeh movie haaye, baithe bithaye, jannat dikhaye… haan…. O Rama”. My favourite moment is when Geet runs away from home with Aditya and they end up hiding on the terrace. He says, “Sirf hansi, khel, mazaak nahin hoti hai zindagi... life mein serious bhi hona padta hai.” And she says, “Tum toh life mein bahut serious thhe... kya fayda hua? Bahut badi problem mein tum bhi toh phas gaye naa?” And there goes Geet’s ultimate funda of living life… doing what her heart says.
Dimple Periwal, St. Xavier’s College
The best moment is when Aditya tries to cheer up Geet by encouraging her to abuse Anshuman. Their bond was so strong that every girl would love to have a friend like Aditya.
Suchandra Kundu, Lady Brabourne College
I have watched this film innumerable times and my favourite moment is when Geet meets Aditya for the first time. Whenever I remember this scene, I can’t control my laughter. Aditya sits in the train depressed and Geet goes on talking about her life. And then when he finds her irritating, he shouts at her. We think that now she will stop talking, but no… she was amazed that he could actually speak! And then she starts talking again. I really loved the character of Geet since she is so full of energy all the time!
Injeela Bashar, Asutosh College
It’s very difficult to pick one moment as my favourite because I enjoy each and every moment of this movie. Even now, I can feel the same excitement as I felt 10 years ago when I watched the film for the first time. What I love most is the chemistry between Shahid and Kareena and the way they love each other without proposing to each other. My favourite moment is the conversation they have on the terrace when she runs away from home. And yes, Mauja hi mauja is one of my favourite songs and is always in my Top 10 playlist.
Debojyoti Sikdar, Barrackpore

Being a die-hard Shahid fan and having watched the movie over 60 times, every moment is a favourite. I would like to mention a few t2 missed and which I adore.
n The humorous conversation in the bus. Geet asks Aditya to marry her “bilkul meri jaisi behen” Roop and he chuckles, “Kyon na hum bhaag jate hain, shaadi karte hain, phir rehte hain paharon mein?” Aditya’s expression when he says, “Tum hamesha aise bakwaas karti ho ya aaj koi special occasion hai?” was priceless.
n When the duo run away from Geet’s house. He asks her what’s the plan and she gives him options. His reaction, “Yeh hai tumhara plan?! Tum mein zara bhi akal hai ya nahin?” was hilarious.
n When they meet after nine months in Shimla. She pushes him away from her, asking him to leave her alone and he tells her, “Jab bhi main kisi situation mein hota hoon toh sochta hoon Geet yahaan pe hoti toh kya karti aur wahi karta hoon aur tum keh rahi ho ki maine tum par bahut saara ehsaan kiya hai? Agar main aaj zinda hoon toh tumhari wajah se, you fool!” The indirect confession of his love for her… touching and romantic.
n Geet’s last words to Aditya before she kisses him: “Tumhara sirf ek ehsaan hai mujh par… ki tum Anshuman ko wapas le aaye, warna main yeh kabhi samajh nahin paati ki main kya chahti hoon”.
Anwesha Sensarma
Jab We Met is not just a film, but a piece of nostalgia for me. I remember that it was the first or second love story I watched after Titanic (before this film, Harry Potter was all that I used to watch). And on its 10th birthday, I’m watching it for the 10th or 20th time. Kareena, as Geet, is the best part of JWM. I love the scene when Geet forces Aditya to elope with her from Bhatinda. My mom and I almost fell from the sofa laughing at the climax of the movie. The way Geet asks Aditya if Anshuman was coming up behind is a comic masterpiece. The songs were awesome and Manali was extremely beautiful. Imtiaz Ali teaches us that we should love ourselves first and Geet is a role model. I think we all have a Geet in us.
Dithi Sen, G.D. Birla Centre For Education
Thank you t2 for making my Thursday morning so beautiful. I was probably appearing for my class X board exams when the film released and as far as I can remember, my parents had said a big “NO” to watching it. Ironically, I visited Shimla with my parents after my exams and watched the film there. I took an instant liking to Geet because of her naive yet smart personality and her forever chatty mood. But what really touched me about this movie was the simplicity with which it was made… the heartbreaks, sacrifices, innocence, the pure and genuine love. This movie inspired us to believe in ourselves and follow our hearts… something that I have been following ever since.
PS: Jab We Met gave many of us major run-after-the-train goals! LOL!
Sreoshi Bakshi
I always love watching romcoms and this film is just the type I love watching again and again. Shahid and Kareena looked so cute together. The chemistry between them was very interesting to watch. The story didn’t have much intensity but was good enough to make a place in our hearts forever. This film is surely Imtiaz Ali’s masterpiece. Rather, I would like to call it Imtiaz Ali’s DDLJ. Some films become iconic and Jab We Met is one such. The songs will never get old and every song suits a different mood.
