Moulli Ganguly, Shaina Of Kahin Kissi Roz, Is Back After Almost A Year-long Self-imposed Break With A Cameo In Aathvaan Vachan On Sony. She Speaks About Work And Her Love Life... MILI SWARNAKAR (BNS) Published 18.09.08, 12:00 AM

You are back after a long break. Any specific reason why you chose this show?

Firstly, I found my role short and sweet and the serial interesting because after a point you do not know what is going to happen since I am only in a cameo. It is a very well written character with a definite graph. I am not claiming that it is a character which people have never seen before but within the parameters of the serials that are being made, it is really interesting. If I was the audience, I would love to watch it.

Why would you want to do a cameo for comeback?

It is like a warm-up for me. I think it is always important to come up with a role you believe in. Besides, I have a lovely team to work with.

This is a show about two sisters. How is your bonding with your reel-life sister?

I’m an only child and I think of Urmi, who plays my younger sister, as my kid sister. In the make-up room I scold her and pull her leg too.

You had said that you are not ready for a daily show yet you signed this show...

This is a cameo so I have my breathing space. It depends on the producers and directors who offer me the roles. I can choose only from what is offered to me. Personally, I would like to do something I have not done before — like comedy. After doing comedy plays, I have developed a taste for comedy. Unfortunately I have only been offered strong girl or good girl roles on TV.

You are extremely selective...

My friends say that I’m stupid and should make money when the going is good. But If I do something for the heck of it, I feel that I cannot pull it off. Till I’m 100 per cent sure about the role, I do not commit.

Will you do reality shows?

I don’t think I’m the right candidate for reality shows. I only want to do things that I enjoy. Maybe I’m a little ziddi or even a little stupid.

You have bagged a feature film, Man’s World. What’s it about?

The film pivots around male prostitution. At present they are doing the post-production of the film. Once again, I play a very simple (laughs) girl from Calcutta who comes to Mumbai and becomes a school teacher. An incident changes her life.

How did you keep yourself busy during the break?

I began my kathak lessons again. I was on a trip; I went for vipansana (laughs) for a few days and followed it very seriously for sometime. I read a lot....

That must have left you with very little time with your boyfriend!

When I enjoy all the things that I like to do, I’m a happy person; and that is the best time to be with my boyfriend. If I’m frustrated I become chidchida.
