Julia Roberts runs into George Clooney on a flight and neither of them can wait to get away from each other. The bad marital vibes are for all to see, which means the stage is set for another firecracker act with the two Academy Award winners returning as a fallen-out-with-each-other couple after the Ocean’s films.

The first trailer of Clooney and Robert’s upcoming movie Ticket to Paradise gave a glimpse of all that action, with the promise of a wholesome romcom, on Wednesday. Universal Pictures dropped the trailer with the tweet, “For better or for worse. George Clooney and Julia Roberts star in #TicketToParadise. In Theaters this October.”

Ticket to Paradise is directed by Ol Parker, the man behind the iconic romantic film Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and the writer of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

In the two-minute, 45-second trailer, Clooney and Roberts star as long-divorced parents who impulsively married each other years ago. Now they are flying to Indonesia to try and stop their daughter from making the same mistake – the daughter has decided to marry a native of Bali following a post-graduation trip there. Even when Clooney and Roberts’ characters seek to work together for the benefit of their kid, the trailer underlines the tumultuous relationship they are in.

“Worst 19 years of my life,” Clooney barks when he sees his wife on the flight. Roberts replies, “We were only married for five.” “I’m including the recovery,” he fires back.

Parker directs the film from a script he co-wrote with Daniel Pipski. In addition to Roberts and Clooney, the cast includes Lucas Bravo of Emily in Paris fame, along with Booksmart stars Kaitlyn Dever and Billie Lourd.

Ticket to Paradise is produced by Roberts and Clooney with Deborah Balderstone, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Marisa Yeres Gill, Lisa Roberts Gillan, Sarah Harvey and Grant Heslov.

The film is a co-production between Working Title Films, Smokehouse Pictures and Red Om Films, with Universal Pictures handling the distribution.

Ticket to Paradise is coming to the theatres on October 21. Until then, fans of Clooney and Roberts can rewind to some of their earlier works.

Ocean’s trilogy - Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen

Clooney and Roberts played husband and wife in Steven Soderbergh’s heist comedy films Ocean’s trilogy and their glittering chemistry was on show in every frame they were together in. In the first two Ocean movies, their relationship was one of the driving plots of the films. Danny Ocean’s (Clooney) desperate attempt to win back his ex, Tess (Roberts), has been one of the emotional pillars of these on-the-edge thrillers.

Money Monster

In this crime-thriller directed by Jodie Foster, Clooney stars as financial television host Lee Gates and Roberts is his producer Patty Fenn who are taken hostage by an angry man. Despite the fact that this is a serious film, their on-screen camaraderie is evident throughout.

Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind

The two stars also shared the screen in Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, directed by Clooney himself. They both play CIA operatives alongside Sam Rockwell. However, Clooney kept only a handful of scenes featuring him and Roberts in this biographical spy drama.
