So long, it was Dubai, Bangkok and Singapore. But with Ashok Dhanuka’s Dujone and Shree Venkatesh Films’s Saat Pake Bandha, Tollywood potboilers are going as far as Switzerland and London for smart locations.
The snow-clad Swiss Alps is where Dev and Shrabanti will camp this summer to sing and dance for Dujone.
Jeet and Koel, who play an estranged couple in Saat Pake Bandha, will cosy up in London for three dream song sequences.
“When I shot my last film Bhalobasha Bhalobasha with Hiran and Shrabanti in Austria, I found that the Bengali community was curious about the film’s release. I realised that shooting in unexplored locations helps tap the overseas market. The other reason why I chose Switzerland is because no Tollywood film has ever been shot there. In order to draw the audience, Bengali films will have to offer variety,” says producer Dhanuka, who has kept aside Rs 20 lakh for the six-day shoot.
The Saat Pake Bandha team has zeroed in on London for a different reason. “The audience has already seen Jeet and Koel dance in Singapore and Bangkok. That’s why we chose London. We plan to shoot there for a week,” said Mahendra Soni of Shree Venkatesh.
