Dev brings a touch of care with a family salon

It was a Sunday evening with a difference for Tolly star Dev as he dropped by Sparsh — Spa and Salon in Golf Green to give t2 a walk-through. Leaning against the wall of the entrance, he told t2 why this family salon, which opens today, is special to him. “This place is my sister Dipali’s. When she came up with the proposal, I really liked it. We wanted to open a salon that is cosy and intimate. Privacy and cleanliness are of utmost importance for me and the salon values both. Going to a salon is a habit. If you are comfortable with one, you keep going back to it. We want the same for Sparsh,” said Dev. The interiors are done up with artwork and a splash of colour that Dev found soothing to the eye. “When you are spending a lot of time in a salon, you’d like to check out the artwork or things with a calming effect. Exposed bricks with whitewash also give a relief to the eye,” he added. Pictures: Pabitra Das

Dev checks out the mirror in the bridal room. The beauty section for women is exclusive and private; it includes a separate pedicure section where nail art is also done. Sparsh is open every day from 10am to 9pm.

The Tolly heart-throb gets his hair done in the unisex hair spa/ hair cutting section. “At a salon, I get a haircut, head massage, hair spa and facial. And I keep on changing and experimenting with my hairstyle,” he said.

Travelling light: Relaxed vibes, fun banter, comfy clothes and a cool cast of actors — travelling to Uzbekistan in search of locations for a film shoot early this year was definitely worth it. Dev is happy with the way the shoot in Uzbekistan has shaped up for his fourth home production Hoichoi Unlimited, which releases this Puja. “This film is a full-on entertainer and I loved the story and the characters. The script is so funny that I started laughing while reading it… and I had a blast during dubbing… it was very difficult to keep a straight face,” said Dev.

“The place is beautiful and the architecture is amazing. Place the camera anywhere, and you’ll get a beautiful frame. There are beautiful lakes and snow-clad mountains. We shot inside and on top of a plane in an airport.... This is one of the best experiences of shooting I have had,” said Dev. Also starring actresses Puja and Koushani, along with Saswata Chatterjee, Koneenica Banerjee and Kharaj Mukherjee, Hoichoi Unlimited is directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay. The cast and crew of 66 people were in Uzbekistan for around 27 days.
