Lokesh Kanagaraj has shared the title teaser of his next film Coolie, previously titled as Thalaivar 171, featuring Rajinikanth in a typical larger-than-life avatar, who swaggers into the frame and beats up goons with a chain made of gold watches in his inimitable style.

Dropped by Sun TV on Monday, the three-minute-16-second-long teaser flashes with the colour of gold, beginning with a shot of goons working at their lair with gold biscuits, chains, rings and watches. Rajinikanth soon makes his entry with a chain of gold watches and what follows is an action-filled sequence of the Jailer star pounding the goons with panache.

In another scene, Rajinikanth sits at a table full of gold and lashes the goons with his gold chain. In his action mode, the actor utters his iconic Appavum Thathavum dialogue from the 1982 film Ranga.

The teaser ends with Rajinikanth threatening the gang’s boss over a phone call while lying on a table filled with gold bars and cash. His signature laugh is heard as he tells the leader that he has finished the goons “once and for all”.

The makers announced in the video that the shooting for the film has commenced. However, the details regarding the cast and crew have been kept under wraps.

The music for Coolie has been directed and composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who had previously composed the music for Rajinikanth’s Jailer.

Coolie is produced by Sun Pictures who had earlier collaborated with Rajinikanth for his films like Jailer, Annaatthe, Enthiran and Petta.

Lokesh had earlier confirmed that Coolie will not be a part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which comprises the films Kaithi, Vikram and Leo.
