Celebrating pride month, the t2 campus team spotlight their Fave 11 LGBTQ+Couples from the small screen

Nomi Marks and Amanita Caplan, Sense8

TT Bureau Published 28.06.18, 12:00 AM

Nomi Marks and Amanita Caplan,
Sense8

Nomi (Jamie Clayton), the hacker and political blogger in Sense8, is strong and fights for what she believes is right. She is also probably the first trans character on screen whose character development has less to do with being transgender, and more with her relationship with girlfriend Amanita (Freema Ageyman) and her job as a hacker. Amanita is a badass girl who will do anything for her lady-love. We love how devoted the two are to each other and how they break through societal conventions for justice and love.

Blaine Anderson and Kurt Hummel,
Glee

From the moment Kurt (Chris Colfer) met Blaine (Darren Criss) at The Dalton Academy, we wanted them to end up together. Blaine’s understated confidence is the perfect match for the dramatic Kurt. We love that Kurt could stand up to Blaine even though he was the new guy and Blaine the star of Dalton. We loved how Blaine gave up his popularity at Dalton to become the new guy in William Mckinley High so that he can be with Kurt. Even when they broke up with each other, we knew they would work things out because they were meant to be.

Eric van der Woodsen and Jonathan Whitney,
Gossip Girl

Although Eric (Connor Paolo) and Jonathan’s (Matt Doyle) romance was not given as much importance or screen time as we would have liked, their utter cuteness and devotion to each other made them one of our favourites. We loved seeing Eric brave past his problems and fall in love with the equally sweet Jonathan. We still ship them even though their romance didn’t have a happy ending.

Connor Walsh and Oliver Hampton,
How To Get Away With Murder

Connor (Jack Falahee), the hottie, and Oliver (Conrad Ricamora), the cutie, met when the former wanted to exploit Oliver’s knowledge and skills as a computer technician for a case. The manipulative and promiscuous Connor eventually falls head over heels for the quiet, nerdy ‘IT guy’ and they stick together through the tough stuff, including a positive HIV test for Oliver. They are engaged now and we are keeping our fingers crossed for a happy ending.

Lito Rodriguez and Hernando Fuentes,
Sense8

This couple send the hotness quotient soaring through the roof! The calm, soft-spoken and philosophical Hernando (Alfonso Herrera) is the perfect foil for the high-strung and dramatic Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre). The one place that they both have in spades is their passion for each other. We love how Lito doesn’t give up Hernando when he is publicly outed though his career suffered, and we love how Hernando doesn’t judge Lito even when his students humiliate him and Lito.

Emily Fields and Paige McCullers,
Pretty Little Liars

Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Paige (Lindsey Shaw) started off as rivals but developed a loving relationship — one built on care and understanding. We have always rooted for the couple for how they always had each other’s back through the hardships they faced. Their problems were heartbreaking but they stuck together no matter what and we totally heart it.

Carol Willick and Susan Bunch,
F.R.I.E.N.D.S

For every time F.R.I.E.N.D.S was problematic, the show also threw up storylines that were way ahead of its time, like Carol (Anita Barone) and Susan’s (Jessica Hecht) relationship. Their portrayal of a happy homosexual couple in a mainstream sitcom was a bold move. We love how those two took no prisoners, whether it was Carol coming out to Ross, their marriage or their badass parenting techniques.

Renly Baratheon and Loras Tyrell,
Game of Thrones

We knew from the start that Loras (Finn Jones) and Renly’s (Gethin Anthony) love was doomed, as homosexuality is considered a sin in Westeros. However, their passion and commitment towards each other, despite their love undermining Renly’s claim to the Iron Throne, made us feel for the couple. We wish their love story had a happy ending.

Captain Raymond Holt and Kevin Cozner,
Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Holt (Andre Braugher) and Kevin (Marc Evan Jackson) are perfect for each other. They find each other hilarious when no one else does, have similar tastes and mannerisms and are way too evolved for us mere mortals. We love the fact that their sexuality is a facet of who they are and not all that they are identified with. They get a big YAY for remaining loyal to each other despite their share of problems.

Cosima Niehaus and Delphine Cormier,
Orphan Black

From the moment Cosima (Tatiana Maslany) and her co-worker Delphine (Evelyne Brochu) were introduced in the show, we knew there were going to be fireworks. Both spirited women and talented scientists, their chemistry was off the charts. Their relationship goes through so many ups and downs. It was messy, complicated and demanded a lot of sacrifices, but their love shines through it all.

Tony Padilla and Caleb,
13 Reasons Why

The blossoming relationship between Tony (Christian Navarro) and Caleb (RJ Brown) made us swoon. They look so good together! Handsome hunk Caleb was Tony’s coach and over the course of time developed a crush on him. Despite their age difference, Caleb supported Tony through his problems and stuck by him no matter what. He even turned up at the school’s Winter Dance as a surprise for Tony and won our hearts. We hope to see more of them.
