40 shades of beauty!

40 SHADES OF BEAUTY!

Move over Kylie and Kim, because Bad Girl Riri is here with her make-up brand, Fenty Beauty. Rihanna, who recently stunned all at her charity’s fundraiser gala — the Diamond Ball Charity — in a custom couture by Ralph & Russo, has ensured inclusivity for all in her make-up brand that has 40 shades of foundation, from very fair to deep! Besides, did you know that the make-up line is actually named after her? ‘Fenty’ is Rihanna’s last name and the singer’s full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

EMMY

Priyanka Chopra slayed yet another red-carpet event, this time the Emmy Awards! Not only did she look like a queen in her Balmain gown and presented an award to funnyman John Oliver, she also danced her heart out at the after-party with Riz Ahmed and Aziz Ansari, who were both celebrating their Emmy wins. And the Twitterati collectively lost it at Nicole Kidman’s impromptu liplock with Alexander Skarsgard (her reel husband in Big Little Lies), especially with her “real” husband, singer Keith Urban, standing beside her! But hey, let’s be honest here, if any of us girls had Skarsgard within arm’s length, we’d kiss him over our partners too!

XOXO, GOSSIP GIRL

It’s been 10 years since Serena van der Woodsen (played by Blake Lively) was first spotted at New York’s Grand Central Station. Since then, her fashion, Blair’s sass, Chuck’s bad boy-ness, Nate’s cuteness and Dan’s dreaminess have become the stuff of legend and made Blake (in picture, right, with Leighton Meester as Blair) the star that she is today. To mark its 10th birthday, we are binge-rewatching the six seasons! Oh, what would we have given to know more about “the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite”!

GO GIRLS

We’re stoked to learn about Blisstina or Bliss, the Powerpuff Girls’s long-lost older sister. And we love that she’s African-American. #CartoonsNotSoWhiteAnymore Bliss was created by Professor Utonium in his quest to make the perfect girl, much before he created Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup. We can’t wait to watch this new five-part series to see how our sheroes save the world from Mojo Jojo... again!

OH, DR STRANGE!

Besides the magic that he creates on screen, did you know that Benedict Cumberbatch can also perform magic? When Jimmy Fallon asked him to perform a water trick live on The Tonight Show, the Sherlock star not only obliged but left the audience (and us) spellbound as he overturned an open bottle full of water without spilling a single drop. And he made the water disappear after pouring it in a glass. Blimey! Then again, he is, Doctor Strange after all.

COME AS YOU ARE

We are so glad to see the Bengal government’s campaign to promote transgender rights. One can catch these ads playing on Incoda TV (yes, that’s the only channel that plays at Metro stations). The best part? They are all made by student filmmakers from across the country. A member of our Campus Team was also involved in making one of the ads and we couldn’t be happier. Here’s to accepting and loving people for who they are! #AllLove

PAINTING THE CITY FESTIVE

We woke up on Mahalaya to a stretch of beautiful alpona down Lake Road that was created by about 400 people. Since then, the alpona pictures have gone viral as we wait for Sashthi with bated breath!

BOLLY MEETS BADDY

We went “awww” after watching an adorable picture of Shraddha Kapoor getting pampered by Saina Nehwal’s mother when she visited the badminton champ’s house in Hyderabad. From taking baddy lessons to spending quality time with Saina, Shraddha is prepping hard to play the ace shuttler in a biopic directed by Amole Gupte. We just hope she can learn some acting moves too!

HURRAY FOR FANTASY FANS!

The first look of the small screen adaptation of Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the novel Neil Gaiman co-wrote with the late Terry Pratchett, is out! Michael Sheen plays the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant is the demon Crowley. There’s even some time-travel involved, with a very Victorian Tennant — top hat and sideburns — turning up on Gaiman’s Instagram!
