| Bittu with Mithun in Dance Bangla Dance Challenger |
Dance Bangla Dance Challenger’s Aritra Dutta Banik has got a weighty friend on the show — six-year-old Bittu. The TRPs of last season’s Dance Bangla Dance Junior shot up after Bittu, who weighs 37kg, had joined show host Aritra. So, Bittu is back for a second run in DBD Challenger. t2 catches up...
Bittu’s name is...
Srimoy Dey, but he doesn’t mind the nicknames Gablu and Motu. “I know I am fat but I don’t eat much. I fill up my tummy with water. But I love gorging on meat.... I have to lose some weight,” he says. Losing weight may not go down well with his director. “Aritra has lost a few kilos and Suvankar sir (Chattopadhyay, DBD director) insists that he regains that to retain the show’s popularity!” reveals Bittu.
Being Mithun’s favourite boy...
“MG (Maha Guru) dotes on me. We play whenever we get time. He cracks very funny jokes and calls me Bittom Jingalala!” says Bittu. “I loved watching Dance Bangla Dance and was bowled over by Aritra. And I also love MG’s films. So I wanted to be in the audience for the semi-finals of DBD Junior. There I answered a few questions and that’s how MG spotted me. I went for an audition and was selected,” laughs the Howrah boy who wants to become an actor.
Films are not too far away...
Bittu has already acted with Mithun Chakraborty in Handa Bhonda, which also features Aritra. “I play Gablu, Aritra’s classmate. Shooting was great fun!” says the Class I student of Maria’s Day School, Howrah.
Lapping up the adulation...
“People recognise me on the street and I enjoy it. But I find time for studies though I shoot for six hours a day. My parents (Moumita and Srimanta Dey) accompany me to the sets and they love me on the show,” says Bittu.
