In between packing his bags for a short shopping trip to Mumbai, Dev shot for a cameo in Avik Mukhopadhyay’s Ekti Tarar Khonje with lead actor Shayan Munshi.

“I play myself in the film. I shot for a film within the film sequence where I play a superstar and Shayan is a newcomer,” laughs Dev. “Avikda shot the sequence in the Kidderpore dockyard and I got a little nostalgic as I had shot a couple of scenes for Challenge there and I was missing Raj (Chakraborty) and the whole team.” The offer to act in Avik’s film came from producer Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. “Tonyda (Aniruddha) had told me that he would offer me a role and working with Avikda was great! I knew he was a great cinematographer but he is a good director too. He took so much care for that small scene and I enjoyed the way he explained everything to me. It made me feel so special. I felt like I was shooting for a major role in one of my films!” says Dev.

Ekti Tarar Khonje is the third film after Chirodini... Tumi Je Aamar and Jackpot where Dev has done a cameo. “I had done item numbers in Chirodini and Jackpot but being Dev was easier. Dancing needs me to do hours of rehearsals,” he adds. Work apart, Dev also loved the elaborate lunch he had with the Ekti Tarar Khonje team. “We ordered yummy food from outside and it was like a picnic on the sets!” he says.
