All in the family: She has grown up assisting her magician father on stage. It’s now time for Moubani Sorcar to turn the tables. She’s got her father P.C. Sorcar Junior and mother Jayashree to play second fiddle to her lead-act in Ajit Banerjee’s Oh Priya I Love You. “It is a dream come true to share screen space with mom and dad!” gushed Moubani at Press Club on Thursday. “It is her turn to weave the magic wand now and I am delighted that my daughters have emerged as entertainers in their own right, true to our family tradition,” said the doting father. Picture by Aranya Sen His untitled action film with Prosenjit and Raima Sen may have been shelved but potboiler-maker Anup Sengupta is ready to dish out a couple of other projects. |
First up is Dushman, a love story-cum-family drama starring Rahul and Priyanka, shooting for which starts in May.
“Rahul plays a city boy in love with Priyanka’s character who hails from the suburbs. When they decide to get married, Priyanka takes Rahul to her parents and that’s where the actual drama takes place,” says Sengupta.
Right after Dushman, Sengupta will get busy with an untitled love story for which he is scouting for new faces.
“It’s a teenage love story but it will be different. I may do two love stories back to back but I promise that each will be very different from the other. For me love stories don’t mean boy meets girl and then they run away to some picturesque locale and sing songs. I like to spike it with a lot of twists and turns,” he claims.
The third, Mahajuddha, is his most ambitious project. “I have narrated the script to Mithun Chakraborty. It’s a full-on action film,” says Sengupta.
