Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe in Netflix’s ‘Blonde’ teaser: watch it here
Netflix has released the first teaser of Blonde, a movie based on the life of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. Knives Out and No Time To Die actress Ana de Armas plays Monroe in the film.
Written and directed by Andrew Dominik and based on the fictional novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates, the film is a reimagination of the professional and personal life of the timeless Hollywood icon.
On June 16, the streaming giants unveiled the first look of the film on Twitter.
“Hollywood was her dream, but fame became her nightmare. Ana de Armas is Marilyn Monroe in Blonde, premiering September 23,” the tweet read.

The one-minute-six-second long teaser plays a haunting track of Monroe’s hit Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend over flickering shots of a few of Monroe’s most iconic moments in the spotlight. The teaser also throws light on the excessive media attention and the loneliness of being a star. The teaser starts with Monroe sobbing during make up as she utters “Please come. Don’t abandon me,” while praying.
The film also stars Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Evan Williams, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel, Scoot McNairy, Garret Dillahunt and Lucy DeVito.
Blonde is produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tracey Landon and Scott Robertson, with Christina Oh serving as executive producer.
Speaking about the film, Ana recently told Netflix Queue, “Andrew’s ambitions were very clear from the start — to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens. He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane. I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.”
The official Blonde synopsis from Netflix reads: “Boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, ‘Blonde’ blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.”
This is the first film made by the streaming service to receive the rare NC-17 rating from the Motion Picture Association.
Blonde releases globally on Netflix on September 23.
