Actor Aditya Roy Kapur, who plays his first double role in the upcoming film Gumraah, says it was “exciting” for him to play two different characters in the crime thriller, also starring Mrunal Thakur.

Speaking at the trailer launch of the film in Mumbai on Thursday, Aditya said, "I have never done a double role, so that was exciting for me. When you watch it, you will realise we didn't have much levy to play around with hair and looks, so we have to focus on body language and everything else."

Gumraah is the official Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thadam (2019).

Sidharth Malhotra was first announced as the male lead for the film, but he later walked out of the project.

Mrunal, who plays a cop in the film, was compared to actresses Tabu and Rani Mukerji, who have played cops in Drishyam and Mardaani franchises.

Addressing the comparisons, Mrunal said, "I look up to Tabu ma'am and she is the goddess I worship. One of the reasons I wanted to do Gumraah was when I heard the story I could only picture Tabu ma'am."

Last couple of years have seen many celebrity weddings such as Sidharth-Kiara, Ranbir-Alia, Richa-Ali and others. When asked how he still remains a bachelor, Aditya said, "I think everyone is getting married but I am not getting any FOMO. I am gonna take my time and when the time is right I will do it."

Gumraah, directed by debutant Vardhan Ketkar, will release in cinemas on April 7.
