BAFTA-nominated actor Adarsh Gourav recently went to a remote village in Nagpur and met farmers’ widows to prepare for his role in the upcoming Apple TV+ climate crisis drama Extrapolation,
“I believe in understanding and empathising with the person I portray on the screen. For this role, I travelled to a remote village in Nagpur where I met widows of real farmers. Talking to them made me aware of a reality that is neither well reported nor documented,” he said.
The actor expressed hope that the show would reveal the plight of rural farmers. “I hope that through this show, more people, especially from big cities, understand the sacrifices farmers and their families have to make to ensure a comfortable meal at home. I hope that the show brings in some change so that these widows and their children have a genuine shot at making something of their lives,” he said.
Going the extra mile to prepare for a role isn’t new to Gourav. He had previously worked at a food stall to prepare for the character of Balram Halwai in The White Tiger.
Extrapolations by Scott Z. Burns also stars Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Tobey Maguire and Edward Norton in key roles. It will premiere on Apple TV+ from March 17.
