The hash sign ‘#’ had its humble beginnings on Twitter not so long ago. And now it has a destination for a humble meal too!

H#shtagwaale, a new cafe, has tagged itself at 234/3A AJC Bose Road, near Woodburn Park, occupying the space that previously housed The Flying Monk, before the monk, well, flew away. While the cafe is still a unit of Gama Hospitality, a fresh force is steering it and has taken the cafe route that has worked so successfully in the city.

“Think of H#shtagwaale as little more than your drawing room, a little less than a restaurant,” said Deep J. Banerjee and Naveen Pai, the men steering the new hangout. Naveen is an old hand in the cafe community, if you remember Coffee Pai on Camac Street.

Step into the 64-seater H#shtagwaale for a dose of #instaeats. Think #chakna like Kachumbar Salad and Masala Peanuts to go with your tall towers of beer. #Chatpata Phuchkas and a Mini Kulcha Platter, familiar Chilli Cheese on Toast, Sauteed Chicken Sausages, #Kebabs like Paneer Tikka and Mutton Sheekh, #Pizza, #Pasta, Fish Fingers and more.

“There are some subtle innovations too. Like the Naanza, which is pizza with a makhani gravy, and Indiana, a masala pasta,” said chef Abhishek Roy. There’s even a section called #EggsDoneYourWay — call the chef to your table and request for a sunny side up or poached Benedict.

Here are five things t2 bookmarked for when you visit H#shtagwaale...
