Twitter was abuzz on Sunday evening with #t2LiveChat. Here are 50 of the 500-plus questions fans threw at Dev and his answers, while he was in the t2 office:

1 What qualities do you want to see in your soulmate, Sir?
There has to be some ‘soul’ in my mate!

2 Your first celeb crush?

Mamta Kulkarni.

3 Do you like doing  commercial or art films?

Whichever film pays me more! ;)

4 Which film would you dedicate to your parents?

I always thought Chander Pahar would be the film I’d show my mom-dad. But after watching it, my mom didn’t speak to me for a week. When she did, she fired me left and right. Why? Because she realised I had taken so much risk in the film, fighting with a lion and with snakes...

5 Are you a mumma’s boy?

Totally!

6 How do you choose your hairstyle?

There was a time when I used to love my hair but now I love my characters more! I have a crew cut for my next film...

7 After I Love You, tomar turning point?

Chander Pahar.

8 Who is your inspiration?

In my family, definitely my dad. And if there’s one person I call a superstar, it’s Rajinikanth. I remember going to watch Sivaji in Bombay and meeting some fans who had come down to Bombay just to watch all four shows on one day and go back to Madras, because there were no tickets available there... unbelievable!

9What do you think about Deepika Padukone’s Live Love Laugh Foundation?

I wish her all the luck. And I pray to god that she doesn’t go through any depression…

10 Which director would you like to work with?

I would have definitely liked to work with Satyajit Ray.... In Calcutta now, I have worked with almost everyone.

12 What’s the one thing yet to be achieved?

I don’t think I’ve achieved anything right now. I have a long way to go. Unofficially, I have been in Calcutta for a decade, I came here in 2004. By 2009, I was established as Dev after Challenge, Mon Mane Na, Poran Jai Joliya Re, Paglu…. An actor has many ups and downs in 10 years but I believe that my graph hasn’t dipped. It has stayed constant.
13STJ (Sudhu Tomari Jonyo, Dev’s Puja release) sequel holey tomader bachcha kachcha thakbe...?
Yes, definitely! Taholey hero change korbo, hero Jeet ke diye debo!

14 Acting or directing — which is more difficult?

Producing.

15 Okay, being MP, producer, Deepak or Dev… which is most difficult?

Being normal is the most difficult!

16 What’s the difference between Adi (his character in Sudhu Tomari Jonyo) and Dev?

Adi is married and Dev is not ;)

17 What is the secret behind your energy?

Criticism. When people say I can’t do something, I do it...

18 When your mother saw you for the first time on the big screen….

(Long pause) Ma said so many things… I’m wondering where to begin! Last year, when Ma saw Buno Haansh, she said, ‘I think you are finally beginning to act’. So there you go — that’s my family — my biggest critic.

20 What about your dad?

My dad is very proud. He was the only person who was against me becoming an actor. He was in the catering business. He saw thousands of people coming to Bombay to become stars. He used to feed many of them free meals. He saw me walking the same path and so he was very worried. He has always been very protective.

21 How did you make it big?

The film industry is the only industry where your talent doesn’t matter. Your luck does. I was lucky enough to be a hero, be Dev.

22 During your school days, what kind of a child were you?

The BEST child!

23S chool life or college life?

Any life which is good...

24 In 25 years, you want to see yourself in…

Boss, I have no clue what will happen 25 hours later, forget 25 years!

25 How was it watching Heropanti?

I haven’t watched it. But whoever has seen it said it’s bad.

26 Your favourite character?

The most difficult one becomes your best one.

27 So then your most difficult one?

Rawna in Arshinogor.

28 Your favourite childhood film?

Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! It’s the first movie I saw in the theatre. I fell in love with that film. It was the first time my ‘love’ emotions came into play... I cried at everything!

29 When are you planning to settle down?

There’s still time… another two-and-a-half, three years?

30 Say something now that Subhashree and you are back in a movie…

I’m honoured now that she has agreed to work in our small film.

31 Ur fav food?

Anything for me ;)

32 And street food?

Dahi Phuchka at Vivekananda Park.

33 Where do you like to eat?

I’m not a foodie like Tony (Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury) and to some extent, Rukmini. Before going anywhere, they Google and plan what food they will get. And I plan how many hours of sleep I will get while they go eat!

34 Suppose reincarnation happens, tomar next jonme ki chao?

I have to think!

35 Which game app are you hooked to?

An app called Real Cricket.

36 How was your experience of working with Aparna Sen (in Arshinogor)?

She’s fabulous, she’s fantabulous, super energetic.

37 Your favourite old song?

I love this song from Anand: Kahin door jab din dhal jaaye…

@nimmis_dev: Ekhuni going to dwnload...

I’ll catch up on my sleep :P I don’t live my life in the past. Move ahead, tai to?

42 Favourite place there and here?

Miami. And here, it’s Vedic Village, the best resort. I’m the brand ambassador!

Bless you, all the best...

@Titly_sid: Amar dream puron hoyegelo...m sooooooo happpyyyyyyy

45 The greatest struggle you have overcome to be where you are today…

I think the last one-and-a-half years. The moment I became an MP, it was the biggest struggle.

46 When thousands of fans come to see you, how do you feel?

When they are not there, that is when I will feel it. Now, I am just grateful.

47 What scares you?

Too many questions!

48 Can we get d swtest flying kiss frm u? Given...

49 Final word for your fans?
