I make a pack of Fuller’s earth and cucumber juice and apply it on my face whenever I can. It not only takes care of my oily skin but also works as a good cleanser. I make it a point to wash my face with cold water mixed with rose water when I get home after a long day out. I also massage my hair every two or three days a week with a mixture of almond and castor oils, leave it on for two hours and then wash off. Apart from this I include plenty of water and fresh fruit juices in my diet. |
Summer’s around the corner, and I am dreading it for just one reason — sunscreen. My skin hates sunscreen — it gets oily, and invariably breaks out into a zit or a pimple or some kind of a rash. But then it’s such a necessary product — could you please suggest how to deal with this? Is there any natural substitute for cosmetic sunscreen? I am a 28-year-old woman with combination skin.

Always use oil-free products on your skin. The problem with most of us is that we do not read what the product has to offer and that can be quite damaging. Clean your face and then apply sunscreen. You can even try an aloe vera calamine which will help protect and heal your skin at the same time.

I do not think that one should ever sleep with a mask at night. That could be a complete disaster! You need to follow a good cleansing regime before you sleep so that your skin is squeaky clean. Use rose water or a good lemon butter to cleanse the skin and follow with some orange-based cleansing granules mixed with cold milk. Moisturise and leave on for 30 minutes before sleeping. Wash off and pat dry. Let your skin breathe!
