Celluloid dreams
Abhay Chopra is not one to forget childhood friends that easily. And now his tribute to his buddy Ranbir Kapoor is taking him places. India 1964, Abhay’s short documentary featuring Ranbir, has been nominated for the best film award at this year’s Students Oscar in the United States. Abhay’s celluloid endeavour was for his film graduation, but finally made the cut for the award from entries coming in from film schools across the US. No mean feat that. It’s another matter that Abhay is the grandson of Bollywood veteran B. R. Chopra. And that Ranbir Kapoor is the new stud from the Kapoor family stable — he is the son of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. With such credentials, won’t they be making a Bollywood entry soon? Watch this space for an update.
Blues no more
The nail-biting wait for exam results won’t be very long this year for those with Reliance mobile phones. The telecom giant has announced that students will be able to view the results of class X and XII board exams on their mobile phones as soon as the marks are made public. R-World, the much-in-demand mobile portal of Reliance Infocomm, will make this facility available to over 30 million students across India. The students will just have to enter their roll numbers into the phones and R-world will let them view their results. National-level entrance exams like AIIMS, CET and CMT also plan to avail of this service. When R-World was launched last year, only some board exam results could be accessed through it. But this is the first time that the service will be made available across the nation. For now at least the service is being provided free to users. Here’s hoping that happy days will never end.

21-year-old Eleonora Pedron sure has a lot of spunk. The 2002 Miss Italy was doing fine presenting weather forecasts on TV. But that’s before she did a raunchy magazine spread clad in nothing but G-strings. The boss fired her, but she’s far from repentant.
Slang bang
This is a joint appearance with a difference. Beleaguered couple David and Victoria Beckham have waltzed their way into a new book of British slang. According to the entry, the couple’s names have become a rhyming euphemism for sex. The list of slang terms makes for interesting reading. Mockney, for example, is a middle-class person trying to sound like a Cockney. Penelope Cruz stands for Booze, and Saddam Hussein for, simply, pain. August company for the Beckhams.

Abhishek Bachchan |
AB’s poor baby has never really blazed a trail through popularity charts. To shore up his image, Abhishek Bachchan has now agreed to do an item number for Mahesh Manjrekar’s Rakht. He’s flown down to Singapore to shoot for the song, which is going to have the international hit One love by the group Blues. Copyright matters have been sorted out but Abhishek has chosen to stay mum about the song. Small wonder! He’s not exactly known to set the dance floor on fire.
