What is Nwook?
Nwook is a start-up that provides “shared affordable spaces” for people to co-work or
co-study. It also lets you book training and conference rooms where you can conduct tuitions, meetings, workshops and more. The best part? None of the distractions that are usually found at home or work!
How does one become a Nwookian?
Log onto nwook.com where you can register and book your time slot, which is tracked with a wristband that’s given on reaching the venue.
What other facilities are available?
The entire space is air-conditioned and well-lit. Wi-Fi and hot beverages are complimentary with work seats and rooms.
How much does it cost?
Rs 40 per hour for study seats and Rs 60 per hour for work seats. There are also packages to choose from. Some of them are...
Work: Rs 2,250 for 50 hours over 15 days. Study: Rs 1,800 for 50 hours over 15 days. Meet: Rs 3,200 for 10 hours over 3 days.
Where are the other Nwook outlets in town?
Bhowanipore: 123 Ashutosh Mukherjee Road, first floor, diagonally opposite Purna cinema.
Sector V: EN-26, Sector V, Salt Lake, Amrit Tower, second floor, near Webel More (lane opposite HDFC Bank).
This is the common area of Nwook Dalhousie, with an attached pantry where you can take a break and grab a coffee or a quick bite.
The Dalhousie Nwook Launch Showcase was held last month. There was a session with Ushoshi Sengupta, a workshop by neuro-linguistic programming practitioner Sourabhh Mukherjee, open mic by Kalkutta Komedians and live music. Other start-ups, freelancers, NGOs and entrepreneurs were also present with their stalls.

The conference rooms — where you can hold group meetings and tuitions — have a long table, comfortable chairs and a white board.
Instead of booking an entire banquet hall, you can hold your training workshops in any of the two training rooms.
Udbhav Jalan is the space partner of the Dalhousie branch of Nwook. “I converted this space with the help of an intern. I tried to keep the expenses as less as possible,” said the 25-year-old.
“This is a good space — hassle-free and comfortable furniture. What else do I ask for? It is pocket-friendly as well,” said Sunaldo Chakraborty, chief general manager of Recycloid, a start-up.
It was the first day for brothers Subhasish (left) and Debasish Basak, in Nwook. “It has an office-type nature and looks like a good place for work. There are no distractions,” said the BTech students of Budge Budge Institute of Technology.
Ayesha Singh is one of the three partners of Nwook. “The point is to start a project working space in Calcutta. So we have partnered with space owners and made this place flexible and affordable. It is easily accessible,” said Ayesha. The team also plans to take Nwook to Delhi.
