Anand: Exit mode |
New Delhi, June 20: PepsiCo India chairman Manu Anand has resigned from the company after working for 19 years. No successor has been named.
“PepsiCo India region president Manu Anand has decided to join another company and is leaving PepsiCo. His successor will be announced in due course,” the company said in a statement.
Following the development, PepsiCo India CEO (Beverages) Gautham Mukkavilli and PepsiCo India CEO (Foods) Praveen Someshwar will now report to PepsiCo AMEA (Asia, Middle East and Africa) head Saad Abdul Latif.
Anand became chairman of PepsiCo’s India region in January 2011. He was responsible for the company’s beverage and foods businesses in India and neighbouring South Asian countries, except Pakistan.
He had succeeded Sanjeev Chadha who moved to PepsiCo’s Middle East and Africa operations.
Anand joined PepsiCo in 1994 as chief financial officer of Frito-Lay India. He became managing director of the unit in 1998. He was general manager, South East Asia, for Pepsi from 2007 to 2010.
Anand could not be reached for comments.
The leadership change in PepsiCo India comes a day after rival Coca-Cola announced that Atul Singh, its India and West Asia CEO and president, was being promoted as deputy president of the company’s Pacific Group with effect from July 1.
There has been an exodus of senior officials from Pepsi India since Varun Berry quit to join Britannia. Last month, Berry was named the head of Britannia’s India business succeeding Vinita Bali.
In March, Pepsi had reshuffled its top management when it named Praveen Someshwar and Gautham Mukkavilli as the new CEOs for its foods and beverages businesses in India, respectively.
