Calcutta, June 15: HDFC Bank today launched a mobile phone application - PayZapp - to facilitate online payments and money transfer.
The application will help the bank to tap customers preferring to pay and shop online.
The bank has tied up with online players such as Flipkart, Cleartrip, Goibibo and Expedia and is looking to expand its offering in the coming months. Also, customers would be able to transfer money, pay utility bills and recharge their mobile and DTH connections using the application.
PayZapp does not require credit or debit card numbers and security codes for every purchase. There is no pre-paid card restriction on daily or monthly limits. Also, one does not have to load money to pay. The application will link the bank-registered device with the card number to determine the authenticity of a transaction.
"A customer will be able to complete every type of payment from a single app with a single PIN without worrying about prepayment and re-loading," said Parag Rao, business head (cards, payment products and merchant acquiring services).
