New Delhi, May 25: Coca-Cola India, which sells its premium hot beverages brand of Georgia Gold tea and coffee through fast-food chain McDonald’s, plans to expand its retail operations by tying up with other outlets from this summer.

Speaking at the launch of Georgia Gold iced tea and cold coffee variants, Coca-Cola India president and CEO Sanjiv Gupta said, “The hot beverages of Georgia Gold tea and coffee, which Coca-Cola has been selling through McDonald’s for about two years, will be extended to other premium outlets after June.” The iced tea and coffee brands may be launched later in ready-to-drink glass bottles, like other Coca-Cola soft drinks, he added.

“About 50-60 new outlets will be added in the metro cities that will sell Georgia Gold hot tea and coffee,” said I. B. Bopanna, director, tea/coffee business and international trade. Coca-Cola is on the look out for premium locations, which would match the profile of McDonald’s outlets, to extend the hot beverage brands. It is considering chains as well as standalone outlets for the purpose, said Bopanna.

McDonald’s expects a 25 per cent increase in beverage consumption at its outlets with the cold beverages line of Georgia Gold tea and coffee, said Amit Jatia, joint venture partner and managing director of McDonald’s western India.

The new cold beverages have been rolled out across McDonald’s restaurants in Delhi and Mumbai in the first phase and will be available in other cities shortly.
