The India-US CEO forum virtual meeting on Thursday discussed ways to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

In the meeting, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the significant growth of the India-US economic relations, driven by the common interest of promoting sustainability, emerging technologies, globally resilient supply chains and small businesses. The meeting was chaired jointly by Goyal and Gina Raimondo, US secretary of commerce.

“The forum continues to be an effective platform for dialogue across key sectoral themes and to identify areas for closer collaboration for the mutual benefit of both economies,” the commerce ministry said on Thursday.

The CEOs, under the seven working groups, presented priority areas to create stronger partnerships and boost growth in critical areas.

Millet exports

The commerce ministry through the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (Apeda) has prepared a comprehensive strategy to promote exports of Indian millets from December.

The millets export promotion programme comes against the backdrop of United Nations’ General Assembly (UNGA) declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets (IYoM) as proposed by India.
