New Delhi, June 29: Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar will head a high-powered ministerial panel tasked with the onus of deciding on auction of telecom spectrum, a top DoT official said today. The empowered group of ministers has been reconstituted after Pranab Mukherjee, who was heading it, resigned as the finance minister to contest the presidential elections.

Calcutta, June 29: A division bench of Calcutta High Court today declined to pass any order on the plea of Winstar — an associate of The Chatterjee Group and an investor in Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd — seeking a representation on HPL’s board of directors.

London, June 29: Royal Bank of Scotland could face a fine of about £150 million for the same interest rate rigging offence that has hammered Barclays this week, The Times said.

Cairn stake

New Delhi, June 29: Cairn Energy, which had last year sold a majority stake in its Indian unit to mining group Vedanta, today sold 3.5 per cent for over Rs 2,000 crore in an open market deal.
