Patna, Jan. 30: A high-level team probing the charges of inflicting third degree torture by former Sheikhpura superintendent of police Babu Ram on a 20-year-old youth in police custody submitted its report to the home department on Wednesday.
The two-member team comprising additional director-general of police (headquarters) Ravinder Kumar and inspector-general (prison and correctional services) Anand Kishor submitted its joint report to home department principal secretary Amir Shubhani late this evening.
Subhani said: “The report is likely to be submitted to the chief minister today.” Subhani, however, refused to share details of the report.
The team was earlier supposed to submit its findings on Tuesday.
It was delayed as the members had reportedly sought clarifications on certain points from the doctors attending to the victim, who is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Patna Medical College and Hospital.
The probe team also sought clarifications from Babu Ram, a 2009-batch IPS officer, who was removed from his post on Monday and asked to join the police headquarters with immediate effect.
