Patna, Feb. 19: A middle-aged woman, along with her brother-in-law with whom she had an extra-marital affair, was arrested today for allegedly murdering her husband last night at Tulsi Mandi under Alamganj police station.

Sources said Vimla, the wife of Tulsi Mandi resident Vijay Pandey, was alleged- ly having an affair with her sister’s husband, Sunil Mishra, for the past few years.

Alamganj station house officer Rajendra Prasad said: “Yesterday, Vimla and Mishra slit Pandey’s throat with a knife. The duo threw the body in the backyard and was planning to dispose it to mislead the police. We came to know about the incident yesterday night and the body was recovered.”

Patna City deputy superintendent of police Sushil Kumar said: “The police patrolling unit first came to know about the incident in the night after some neighbours, on hearing a noise from Pandey’s house, informed the police.”

Based on the information provided by the patrolling team, the police reached the house of Pandey and recovered his body, but could not find anybody there.

The police said the neighbours informed them that the woman was having an affair with Mishra and they were living at Dalhata in Patna City.

The police added that Pandey, who was a priest at Brahma Sthan of Patna City, repeatedly asked his wife to end the affair, over which the couple used to fight regularly.

This morning, the police raided the Dalhata house and the duo were arrested.

Pandey and Vimla have an eight-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter. The children have been handed over to Pandey’s family members.

The incident comes a day after the murder of Patna City resident Santosh Yadav.

Yesterday, the residents of Patna City blocked roads demanding the arrest of the persons behind his murder.

The agitators laid Yadav’s body on the middle of the road demanding the arrest of his relatives.

Khirni Mohallah resident Yadav was allegedly killed by his relatives over a land dispute on Friday.

The road blockade was lifted after the two named accused in the case, Bablu Yadav and Vishwanath Yadav, were arrested.
